Invictus Cross lived at Strange Castle, but his time was spent lusting over the mortal librarian, Serena Blackstone. Though he knew he couldn't have her, he couldn't stop thinking about her. Celeste Quicksilver had given him this place to live and he couldn't make Celeste regret her decision.
Serena Blackstone wanted Invictus Cross. Using a magickal gift given to her by her best friend, Celeste, she invites Invictus to one night of passion. She waits until he arrives and prays that the Revealing Robe she's been given will let her know if Invictus is her true love.
Is Invictus hers? I won't ruin the surprise for you. However, I will say that Invictus likes his sex not quite vanilla. Can Serena handle his desire and his desire to dominate her for their mutual pleasure? Will she give into what they both want, on his terms?
Lani Aames has created quite a story. I hope to see more of Strange Castle as well as get to meet the owner of this unusual place between the mortal realm and the magickal one. Invictus is unlike many males. You'll love his strength and his blunt behavior. You'll feel for Serena, for her confusion, her desire, and her need to understand. This is a great story and I can't wait to read more of the Lusty Charms series.

Welcome to the first of several stories involving the inhabitants of Strange Castle.
Invictus Cross had no qualms about destroying the gaily-wrapped package left on his desk. There was no indication as to whom it was from and given his past history with the former witch-turned-warlock DeMonica Dark, he couldn't be too careful. Just thinking about Demonica had him reaching for something to calm his nerves. No sooner had he poured his drink and sat down, a glittering object started flitting about his head. A summoning globe, indestructible, would only cease its flitting about once the receiver spoke with the sender. Reluctantly he followed it.
The globe leads him to the women's quarters. After running through the women currently staying at Strange Castle, Invictus realizes it can only have been sent by one person, Serena Blackstone, the mundane (non-magical being) librarian. Just the thought of Serena had Invictus aching. Ever since she had arrived, he'd been unable to think of anything else but bedding her. Unfortunately, he knew when Demonica attacked Strange Castle; Serena would be the first to fall. No matter how much he desired her, he couldn't let her see him as anything but a bastard.
Wearing a gown that would allow only her true love to see her as wearing nothing, Serena waited impatiently for Invictus to arrive. She fervently wished Invictus would be able to see through the garment. From the moment, she arrived all she could think about was the dark, brooding Castle Alchemist. When Invictus enters and sees through her gown, she is elated. Moments later, she is stunned beyond belief as Invictus orders her to cover herself, then threatens to punish her for her disobedience. He says if she wishes to be with him, she must obey him implicitly. Will Serena be able to give into his wishes?
A quickie, Lusty Charms: Invictus nonetheless shines with rich, believable characters, an exciting world and smoldering passion. Invictus is a hero to die for, or at the very least, to drool over. His brooding nature cries out for love and Serena is his perfect mate. I'm eagerly anticipating the rest of this series. Don't miss!
