In a land threatened by war, three slaves rise above their station, build new lives for themselves and others, and find love and happiness.

Lady Ariane was a healer of the highest caliber. She treated anyone and everyone, be they friend or foe; she was bound by her oath of honor to treat the ill to the best of her ability. When a group of knights serving the Dark Lords attacks the home of a dying Turkish leader, she is accused of treason and taken to the Dark Citadel as a slave.

The Dark Citadel was known to be a place of unimaginable horrors, extreme indulgence and rampant sexuality. A virgin, Ariane fears for her very soul. Fortunately Sir Stephen, the least notorious of the four Dark Lords, buys her. He turns her over to his two most trusted slaves, Radu and Antony for training in the sexual arts.

Antony and Radu proceed to train Ariane in the erotic arts, impressing upon her the importance of staying in Sir Stephen's good will. As part of her training, Antony explains that she, Radu and himself are bound together first by necessity then by free choice. Theirs is a bond of honor; they suffer or survive together. As time passes, Ariane begins to love her masters Radu and Antony. She feels no shame at loving and being loved by two men.

When the Dark Citadel is attacked and Sir Stephen wounded, Radu masterfully engineers their escape. They make their way to the Keep of the Unburied Dead, knowing everyone fears a plague believed to be carried by the mist. Once there, Radu, Antony and Ariane forge a new life for themselves and those who have sworn fealty to them. Will they survive long enough to see peace come to their land? Or will the threat from the Turks and quarrelling Wallachian lords destroy their chance for freedom?

A masterful story, In Honor Bound, is a beautifully written, historical erotica. Set in an oft forgotten time period, it is rich with detail and color. The reader is transported to the war-torn province of Wallachia after Vlad Dracula has fallen. Ms. Adams spared no effort to bring this time period to life. The unsanitary living conditions are not glossed over as in so many historical novels, yet neither do they consume the focus of the story. They are merely presented as fact and quietly fade into the background.

In Honor Bound was the first erotic novel I read some five years ago and it holds a special place within my heart. Ariane, Radu, and Antony were beautifully brought to life and captured my attention and love from the start. Their emotions were palpable, drawing me further into their lives than I thought imaginable. After five years, this is still the novel I turn to when I long to read about honor, chivalry, love and daring courage. I highly recommend, In Honor Bound; it's a true keeper.

Reviewer Note: Some readers might find Ms. Adams attention to detail a bit too graphic. In order to understand the depth of depravity running rampant, she describes how Vlad Dracula earned the name Vlad the Impaler. In addition, there are some male/male love scenes. However, these scenes are integral to the story and tenderly written. The love between the two characters is very evident and in the forefront at all times.
