Pine Forest, Colorado... A town said to be filled with ghosts and other unbelievable things and the place where strange happenings are the norm. Pine Forest is also the town where a ruthless madman (or is it?) stalked and killed unsuspecting women, draining their blood.
Only six short months ago, Erin moved to Pine Forest and did not believe all the talk and such about ghosts and goblins. They just did not exist.... or so she believed until she started to hear two different male voices whispering in her head. Erin tried to shake it off and started to believe herself going a bit mad. But she could feel the evil in the air. Then she met Lachlan, who was from Scotland, in town for business at the library where she worked. He was dark, charming and mysterious. Erin wasn't looking for man to have in her life right now but something kept drawing her closer and closer to this man who excited her like none other. Who was this man who could whisper and talk in her mind? With all the women being attacked he said that he cared and needed to protect her. Could she trust him? Will Erin and Lachlan be able to defeat the evil entity that is stalking Erin and wanting to make her its own?
Deep Is The Night: Dark Fire by Denise Agnew is a terrific vampire romance like none other. Ms. Agnew is able to draw the reader in from the very first page and keep them enthralled, hurriedly turning the pages to find out what happens next. Just when you think you know what's going on and just who all the characters really are, Ms. Agnew throws you for a loop and changes everything, keeping the reader guessing until the very end. This story is filled with exciting action, great romance, very hot sex and characters you just have to love. This is definitely a "keeper" on my shelf and one to be read over and over in the future. For readers who love a very good vampire romance, this is definitely the book for you. I am definitely anxious to read the next story in this line: Deep Is The Night: Night Watch to visit with some old friends from Dark Fire and to make new ones in Night Watch. Thanks Ms. Agnew for such a terrific story.

Painter Bella Markham, taking a vacation away from her overbearing father, is trying to figure out where her life is going. She rents a condo in a small town in Colorado.
Detective Luca Angello is a powerfully sexual, protective and self-confident neighbor who catches Bella's eye. He is also renting a condo as part of a cover to try and track a serial killer.
Bella and Luca are drawn together by these circumstances. When danger throws her into his arms, she discovers that he can reach her depths in ways she never could have imagined. It is beyond all shadow of a doubt that their relationship cannot remain professional, and in one of their sparring matches, Bella dares the ultra-sexy, cocky and infinitely attractive Luca to make her senseless with pleasure. He gladly complies. The story focuses on their relationship. It is often a frenzy of intense sexual encounters that deepen what they feel for each other.
Luca is the epitome of sex on feet. Six feet four of pure testosterone. There are times that all Bella can think of is how she'd have him any and every way possible. He does nothing to dissuade that opinion. Whereas Bella is a shy painter with emotional baggage. She needs to find her way. Can it be possible that Luca finds her as sexy as she finds him? Is it possible, even though she's always felt sexually repressed, that this man could turn her into a sexy vixen? When you read The Dare, you will find that these two make this story worthy of reading and that this book is about as hot and as titillating as they come.
Ms. Agnew does a good job of keeping the suspense in the background, though not letting us forget it. We are enthralled by the sexual compatibility of Luca and Bella. I think the readers will be pleased on both stories . . . the suspense is wrapped neatly, while Luca and Bella realize that they need each other on every level that counts.
