The Ancient One may have been weakened twice by the fools who sought to kill him but once he recovers his strength, he will, with the help of the evil force residing in Pine Forest, wreak havoc and destroy Pine Forest and the residents residing within.....especially Ronan and his pesky little friends.

Ronan and his friends have gone against the Ancient One, the oldest and most evil vampire to walk the earth, twice and managed to stop him for a time but not forever. A seer has told Ronan that in order to kill the Ancient One he must find a woman, have sex with her and be in love. Ronan, a powerful vampire in his own right, had no idea where he could find such a woman that will accept him for what he is, have sex with him and pretend to be in love. Ronan has painful memories of the past. Will he be able to find a woman willing to risk all for him and the people of Pine Forest? Especially when things are not as simple as the seer predicted?

Clarissa Gaines came back to Pine Forest in order to take pictures for her book. She was writing about haunted places and to lay to rest some ghosts of her past. From the day she arrived in Pine Forest things have been chaotic and confusing. Clarissa was being mugged in the cemetery when a tall, dark and handsome man scares her mugger away. This mysterious man intrigues and scares her (just a bit). He keeps popping up out of nowhere, has strange glowing eyes and causes her emotions to one chaotic mess. He infuriates her but also makes burn with a wanting she has never experienced before. Just what is a girl to do?

Soon, the evil in Pine Forest will make a bid to destroy everything in its path. Will Ronan and Clarissa, with the help of their friends, be able to finally destroy the evil vampire? The visions Clarissa sees shows mayhem and destruction for this strange little town, but with the help of loyal and determined friends and a passionate vampire by her side...anything could be possible.

What can this reviewer say about Denise Agnew's third story in the Deep Is The Night series? My first thought after reading Haunted Souls was WOW. The same with the second and third thought: "wow" and "where is the nearest glass of water?". Ms. Agnew writes with a unique passion which brings the story to life; her characters become old friends. The hero is a sinfully sexy and passionate man, which was somewhat of a surprise because in books 1 and 2 of this series Ronan seemed like the tough-as-nails-don't-take-no-crap kinda guy. But boy did that outlook of mine change in a hurry when I started reading Haunted Souls. The heroine is tough in her own right with a open mind on things. She is determined and passionate. She doesn't let too many things rattle her at all, except maybe a too-sexy-for-his-own good vampire. And the sex scenes? WHEW! They are extremely HOT! So all of you vampire lovers, pull up a chair, grab that nice tall glass of water and hang on to your seat because Ms. Agnew will take you on an exciting erotic ride you'll never forget with her wonderful story, Haunted Souls.

Deep in the tunnels a very evil force awaits the time where he can gather his strength to seek revenge on those that dared to harm him. Once done, he can once again claim that what he seeks.....reclaim that which is his.

Micky Gunn came to Pine Forrest intent on claiming the inheritance her uncle left her....The Gunn Inn. She hoped that in this place where she had many good childhood memories she could also escape the Shadow People who have haunted her all her life. She had heard of the murders surrounding Pine Forrest but believed that these "Shadow People" where alot more scary than any mad man could ever be.

Micky's first night in town she is confronted by a man who pulls a gun in the diner where she stops. If it wasn't for the quick thinking of another patron in the diner- a very compelling, sexy and somewhat overbearing patron- she was sure she would have been dead. After that night, things for Micky just kept escalating....finding two dead young people in the tunnels under the Inn, seeing an evil force with a gargoyle face, hearing a compelling voice in her head and of course, we couldn't forget the Shadow People who never left her side. Was she going insane?

Jared Thornton came to Pine Forrest to find the mad man who murdered his aunt. He was a cop on the Denver force and hunting demented people was his job. But is Jared ready to put aside his belief in looking at cold hard facts and explainable reasoning for the strange occurrences that make up Pine Forrest? Ever since he met the strong willed, beautiful Micky at the diner, he felt compelled to find out more about her. The sexual tension between them was very strong but so was the wish to keep her safe and from harm....because something was stalking the woman. And each day...hour...it was getting closer. Will Jared and Micky be able to defeat the evil that is stalking them and Pine Forrest? An evil being that they find hard to believe in? And their disbelief could be their downfall.

Deep Is The Night: Night Watch is the second book in author Denise Agnew's Night Series. Night Watch is a very compelling story filled with great adventure, tension-filled suspense and a heart warming romance. Ms. Agnew does a wonderful job in creating a story that keeps her readers on the edge of their seats, eagerly flipping the pages to see what might happen next. She also keeps you guessing on what the outcome or ending might be because no matter how much you try to guess how this story will end, Ms. Agnew throws in new twists into the mixture that you have no idea how it will end and will make you eagerly read to find out. Ms. Agnew's vampires are a different breed than others you have read and her hero and heroine (along with the secondary characters) are strong-willed, a bit vulnerable, brave and people that you can't help but like very much. The Deep Is The Night series are wonderful stories and must-reads and ones I highly recommend. I impatiently *g* await for the release of the third installment in this series, Deep Is The Night: Haunted Souls, hopefully coming soon from Ellora's Cave.
