Monster in the Closet is a quick, sensual tale written by the talented Megan Hart. She puts such an interesting spin on a concept we've all heard about. I think everyone was scared of monsters hiding in the closet when they were younger. Thanks to Ms. Hart and her writing skills, I think I'd like to find this type of "monster". He can come hide in my closet any day. *bg* This is a very entertaining read!

A centuries old vampire, Seaton DeBlaise is the owner of a "Vampire Only" social club. With some experimentation he has come up with something different. Exotics, human blood mixed with an enzyme that enhances vampiric powers and adds to their sexual experience. These special brews have made the club very popular with the creatures of the night. One night a woman enters his club, she reminds him of Phillippa, his love of centuries that has been dead fifty years now.

Ghislaine Mignon is a beautiful blonde vampire that has specifically targeted Seaton for revenge. Believing that he is evil and has to be brought to justice, she has agreed to be the instrument of that comeuppance. After meeting him, Ghislaine is confused, he isn't anything like she was told he was. Seaton is kind, caring and after their initial meeting Ghislaine has to run to straighten out in her mind the fact that she has been lied to.

Intensely drawn to one another Ghislaine and Seaton quickly become lovers and soon after fall in love. Seaton knows that Ghislaine is holding something back, something she is afraid to let him know. He decides to be patient and let her tell him when she is ready. Ghislaine wants to tell him of how she came to be in his club and the reason behind her being there. He may never forgive her if she tells him of Aubrey and his plan of revenge.

Blood Songs is a novella that has elements of lust, love and betrayal. Delphyne DeRouge has packed a lot into 31 pages, but I would have preferred that she fleshed out the characters more. In this story Ghislaine had no past and how she got involved in Aubrey's plot of revenge was not touched on. Blood Songs is a quick and enjoyable read.
