A pilot for Prescott Air Service, Dee Prescott had been asked to visit the Circle B ranch and see if she would be willing to move in for a month and train two of the ranch hands to fly an airplane. Not sure if she wants to be on a ranch for a month, she nevertheless agrees to visit before making up her mind. It's love at first sight for Dee.

Everything about the ranch calls to her; it's the type of place she had always dreamed of settling down and raising a family in. Much to her great dismay and emotional upheaval, the Circle B is owned by ex-boyfriend Logan Bradford. The man she still loved with all her heart.

Logan couldn't believe the pilot his foreman hired was Dee. He still didn't understand why Dee had walked out on their relationship. All he had asked was that she give up flying. He didn't want her to be in such a dangerous profession. Now that she'd walked back into this life, there was no way he was going to let her get away.

For some reason beyond her ken, Dee agreed to train the two ranch hands and did her best to avoid Logan. He had already caused her so much pain; she didn't want to reopen old wounds. However, his very presence wreaks havoc; she still wants him, still loves him. Though he professes to love her and obviously wants her, how can she be with someone who wants her to give up one of her passions?

Logan's Lady is an emotional read, pull out the tissues cause you'll really need them. Whereas the first book in the Prescott Pilots series (Born to Fly) sizzled with sensuality, this one simmers. It's easy to see and feel the sensuality, but Dee is a much more emotional person than Sharla. Her empathic abilities keep growing stronger and there's no doubt she wants to love Logan completely and utterly. Her emotional journey and the emotional merry-go-round Logan puts her on, will leave you in tears.

As much as I enjoyed the emotion and secondary characters, I found it very hard to like Logan. While his reasons for asking Dee to give up flying are explained in the last part of the book, the fact he was so determined to keep Dee with him that he was willing to use her physical desire against her and get her pregnant irritated me to no end. He came across as a complete bastard at first. So much to the point, I really considered not finishing the book. For me, his behavior was almost unforgivable, but it won't stop me from recommending this highly poignant tale.

Just back from a much-needed and well-earned long weekend, Sharla Prescott knew her sisters were planning something. It didn't matter that it was her turn to take off; they were sure to have some sort of revenge in mind. Sure enough, they did; U.S. Marshal Reed Connors needed a pilot for a week and Sharla was going to be the pilot. No matter how she pleaded and begged, there was no getting out of it. She was going to be stuck with Reed for a week.

It was going to be an interesting flight. Reed was the only passenger, the only male, to ever get under Sharla's skin. Something about him irked her to no end. The fact he had briefly dated both her sisters didn't even phase her; it was just him. How was she going to survive a week with him?

His flight was a fake. Reed was laying a false trail, giving a witness time to arrive and testify at a trial without her ex-husband's goons killing her. He hadn't wanted to put Prescott Air Service employees in the line of fire, but switching to another company would look suspicious.

Forced to make an emergency landing due to an unexpected ice storm, Reed and Sharla are given a chance to really get to know each other. As they spend time in the isolated mountain cabin, the tension between them blossoms into love. Yet, when the people after the Federal witness arrive at the cabin, will their very new, very fragile relationship be destroyed?

Author Becky Barker writes an intriguing, suspenseful tale in Born to Fly. Sharla and Reed are perfect together; their chemistry sizzles from page one, despite their obvious dislike of each other. It's rare to find a romantic suspense where the heroine is something other than a business owner, private investigator, or police officer, so seeing Sharla as a pilot along with her sisters was treat. It gave an added dimension to her character, enhancing and explaining a good deal about her. As you learn of Reed's past, his character becomes more likeable and trustworthy.

For a fun read on these sultry summer days, pick up Born to Fly, Book One of the Prescott Pilots series.
