Yvette Bradford is a beautiful young woman living in virtual isolation. Her father married a rich heiress and then proceeded to squander the fortune away until there was nothing left. Yvette's mother was so despondent that she killed herself. Now the girl's maternal grandfather wanted her back to regain some of his family honor by marrying Yvette off to a "suitable" man of society.

So the grandfather contacted Captain Valentine LeRoux. LeRoux had lost his family's ancestral home to Yvette's father (who then ordered the property destroyed) and wanted revenge. He was paid to kidnap the girl and bring her to her grandfather. But Captain LeRoux had plans of his own. That is until he met Yvette and found himself drawn to her.

While the ending confused me a bit the first time I read it, I found this story to be intriguing and very erotic. This is a quick read, not only because of the actual length, but the fact that the author begins with an opening that immediately catches the imagination. My suggestion is that this would be a good story for when a reader needs a break from household chores.
