Sigmund Brouwer is an award-winning author. He has written more than six books in the Accidental Detective series, and more than three in the Watch Out for Joel series. In Creature of the Mists, taut chapters allow readers to keep the pages turning. Well-defined characters, a clever plot and a puzzling mystery keep the fun and action at full-steam.

Ralphy Zee enters a science project contest that sends him and his friends, Ricky Kidd, Mike and Lisa, into an adventure filled with danger. Esteemed scientist, Dr. Wineguard, and his crew have planned a boating expedition in Canada. They are out to prove the existence of the Ogopogo sea creature-perhaps a cousin to the Loch Ness Monster.

Right from the start, things go wrong. Joel, Ricky's younger brother, is a found-out stowaway and a hero at the same time. Why? Because sharing a hiding space with him was a bomb set to explode and destroy the ship-and possibly its crew and passengers! The danger does not stop there. It only increases as more and more peculiar threats confront the expedition team.

Using highly scientific equipment and software, it looks like something large is alive and well deep in the bottom of the lake. As the kids help look for the sea creature, someone else is set on killing them. But why? Is the villain protecting the monster? Or is the villain looking to get the reward money for proving that there really is an Ogopogo creature in the lake? Or is something else going on all together?

Something smells fishy in Canada. It's up to Kidd and his friends to uncover the clues, solve the crime and save lives before anyone gets murdered!

Creature of the Mists is fun, fast and entertaining. Brouwer knows in order to keep a young reader's attention there has to be a lot happening. He demonstrates his knowledge by keeping each and every chapter full of action. This is an easy book to get into and tough one to put down. The story will appeal to both young men and women and readers of all ages who enjoy clean, wholesome mysteries!
