Heartland hovers between reality and fiction as it travels to the center of life. A clever plot is set amidst a contemporary setting, giving readers a behind the scenes look at Hollywood while gently reminding them of heavenly principles.
JayJay Hawkins left his ranch home, fell asleep on a bus and woke up on the set of a popular television show. But is it only a show? To JayJay, the set, characters and script come right out of his own life. The producer and actors view him as a hero sent to save their sagging ratings. In a bizarre twist of reality, JayJay enters this imaginary world to bring about an eternal truth.
This well written novel teeters on the brink of fantasy. The Hollywood set opens the door to a world within a world, causing JayJay's life to be seen as a figment of someone's imagination, yet undoubtedly real to him. Readers will feel his confusion, while wondering at this conversion. Although JayJay is viewed as a savior to the television show, which has been riddled with internal conflicts, he struggles with his new role. As the pages turn, the question looms as to whether this is a miracle or simply a mania. The author ties up the loose ends nicely, drawing the curtain across a stage that has been lit with a brilliant spiritual truth.
Fans of this author won't be disappointed, as his classic attention to characterization is evident. The inner workings of the television show highlights the pressure and the politics of the business, while offering a insightful look at what goes on behind closed corporate doors. The Christian worldview is smoothly incorporated into the story, providing a genuine perspective to life's perplexities.
Heartland's hero keeps it real!

Imposter is one of a kind! This exceptionally well-written story features an intricate and intriguing plot! Davis Bunn's words are detailed, dangerously exciting and downright suspenseful!
Matt Kelly is the main character and he's the man! Gorgeous, yet with a vulnerability that will endear him to readers, Matt watches in horror as his mother is murdered by a bomb blast. He sets out to find her killer, using his newly honed skills as a FBI agent. As he gets closer to the truth, the past and the present merge in collage of memories. Split second timing separates life from death, and each page is poised to throw readers deeper into the plot.
This novel has everything! The chase for the killer is filled with political intrigue and the inner conflicts between the police department and federal agencies. Coercion and payoffs add to the conspiracy and suspicion. The characters interact with a sense of realism and purpose. As Matt begins to understand the motive for the murder, those around him begin to take on a more sinister look. It's not until the very end that the truth is revealed and the trail comes into full view.
Matt is an amazing character with a special skill of being able to perfectly imitate voices. This talent plays an interesting role in the story. His love interest adds a softness to his personality that makes him even more attractive. Several of the characters have special skills and knowledge that must have been developed by the author's meticulous research. This attention to facts and details gives this novel a chilling sense of realism.
Imposter is impressive writing and impeccable story telling!
