Publisher's Note:This book features Shannon Storm from the Storm For All Seasons series.
Can a person choose their own destiny? Can they fight a destiny they've been born to? Strong-willed and always in control, Shannon Storm has never let any man dominate her - in or out of the bedroom. Meet Max Devlin, the man about to change Shannon's life forever, leaving her very little say in the matter.
Despite Shannon's objections, Max is coming to her family's hotel to work with her on public relations venture. As she has is the director of Public Relations, she doesn't think she needs any help. Never mind the fact that the moment they meet, it is as if they already know one another, that their bodies are in tuned to each other. But, Shannon is no pushover, and does her best to resist her body's powerful attraction to Max's.
Shannon and Max are both from very powerful families - the Storms control the seasons and the Devlins are werewolves. When Max heads to New Orleans to work with the Storms, he has another agenda. His father is separating the pack so they can each set up packs all over the United States. Max's brother Jason, is already set up in Washington D.C. Max is in New Orleans to find a mate, and start having his own pack of cubs. He's also there to flesh out any other wolves to let them know a new alpha is not only in town - but is in charge. Max doesn't have to look far for his mate - it is Shannon Storm - just based on her picture. Will he win her over, despite the secret of his identity?
Fall Fury is another exciting read by Jaci Burton. Two strong families, both protective of their members, but surprisingly, the Storm family accepts Max. Shannon is upset by their easy acceptance of him. One character I especially enjoyed is Shannon's mother and her intuitiveness. Shannon doesn't stand a chance - her dreams are drawing her to Max, his magnetism is drawing her to him, and her own mother is pushing them together. Makes me smile just to think of all of that. *g*
This is a compelling read from start to finish. It's exciting from the very start. Having loved the other books that preceded this one, I was eager to find out how these families would blend, and how Max's plans for the future would play out. What I was met with was raw passion, lust, deep emotions, determination and powerful family bonds. All factored into another marvelous read from the prolific Jaci Burton. Also very interesting is Max's accepting his destiny, while Shannon did all she could to fight hers. Thank you, Ms. Burton, for keeping me entertained again. I look forward to more of both the Storm series and the Devlin Dynasty series.
One more point: In a previous series, Ms. Burton turned a successful contemporary series into a paranormal series, as smooth as can be. She's successfully blended two series into one with Devlin Dynasty 2: Fall Fury and A Storm for All Seasons 1: Summer Heat.. I love Ms. Burton's ability to blend series like this as continuity will always be a favorite with my reading.

Two people with completely opposite ways of ruling find themselves dealing with a powerfully exciting attraction to each other in Jaci Burton's Lycan's Surrender. Who will win in the ensuing battle of wills?
Lycan, King of Raynar, has just won another bloody battle. After several days of fighting warriors from the Centuri Kingdom, the Raynars ended up in battle with the warriors of Dognelle. There is a survivor, and though Lycan has the right to finish the warrior off, Lycan falls back on what's he's learned and taught so many years - woman are to be protected, not maimed or killed. Therefore, Lycan cannot intentionally harm her. Unfortunately, war is the way of life on the planet Czeralion, and now Lycan has a prisoner of war - none other than Starr, Queen of Dognelle.
Raynar is one of the richest kingdoms, enjoying just about every creature comfort there is. The Dognelle's lifestyle is opposite; they need so much. Yet, they have had many opportunities to merge with the Raynar Kingdom, but they continually refuse, instead making war on Raynar. Will Lycan make the Queen see reason, and now that she is captive, finally get her people to side with Raynar?
Starr has a hatred for the King of Raynar. It is because of him that her people are starving, living out in the desert. Imagine her surprise when she discovers that her captor is none other than Lycan, the King. Immediately, despite the many comforts lavished upon her, Starr begins to plan her escape. In the meantime, Lycan has his chief concubine prepare Starr, as she is to become his latest concubine. Maybe after he's seduced her, she will agree to let her people join with Raynar.
Lycan's Surrender is a story of a battle of wills. How can two people that desperately want each other be together when their values are at opposite ends of the spectrum? Lycan reaches a pinnacle of growth that surprises those who have served with him for years. The lands in which the Raynars, Dognelles, and others live, are wrought with danger. The Raynars have established a net of protection around their women, and their women have been happy for hundreds of years. Here comes Starr, with her new ideas, and talk of freedom. It is very interesting to see how certain activities played out, and how everyone ends up winning in the end.
This book may be a bit different from Ms. Burton's usual, but she still gives her protagonists the powerful combination of sexual and emotional chemistry. There is a high level of emotion in this story, besides that of the relationship between Starr and Lycan. The motivations, desires, needs, and challenges of everyone involved is written with dire intensity, thus making Lycan's Surrender a truly captivating read . No matter what world-building Ms. Burton employs, I find myself captivated. I can't wait to see whose story is next in this intriguing world - though I can see it being Tor's, I guess I'll have to wait and see.
