Escape to God is an adventure in living! When author Jim Hohnberger realized that his frantic pursuit of the American dream was giving him nightmares, he packed up his wife and two sons and left for the wilderness of Montana. This bold move was a desperate attempt to find the genuine presence of God in a world that worships the artificial things of life. These pages provide readers with a glimpse of this journey, complete with its startling and spiritually enriching results.

It takes courage and perseverance to leave a life of convenience and venture into the unknown. Fifty miles separated the Hohnberger family from the nearest paved roads and public utilities. The start of their new life brought unforeseen problems as well as daily struggles. The author successfully captured the multitude of feelings that swayed each member of the family, and readers will be impressed at their level of commitment and stamina.

Yet, this book isn't about carving a place out of the wilderness; it's about finding a place for God in the midst of a busy life. The spiritual part of this adventure meanders across well-known paths of "Churchianity" until it comes to rest in a vision of true Christianity. The author's thoughts and feelings are recorded, and are often highlighted by his personal experiences. Readers will follow the trail that begins as a mental assent to the Lord, leading ever onward and upward to an intimate encounter with the Creator. Honesty, humor and a real sense of humanity fill these pages. The first person point of view is a quiet invitation to visit his family and learn more about the Father.

Since most of us would probably never be daring enough to leave the comforts of home for a wilderness life, this book provides an incredible armchair experience!
