Grandpa "Wingy" Cariello wanted to leave his grandchildren a literary legacy, so he penned his life's adventures. This collection of stories showcases certain moments in his life that left lasting impressions. Each short account is followed by the author's explanation of its significance, which offers additional insights to the tales.
These vignettes range from heartwarming to heartbreaking. Yet, readers will be aware that Wingy's experiences all fall within the 'normal' range. And that's the point of this book. The author is an average person, but with diligence, determination and the right decisions he became successful. These peeks into his past reveal the motivation that charted his destiny. His moral compass steered him to a future that fulfilled his expectations and provided a fruitful life. His stories are an encouragement to others, while they also clarify his philosophy of living.
The accounts are recorded in a conversational tone, as Wingy 'talks' to his grandchildren. The subjects covered include finances, politics, religion and ethics. A moral lesson is encapsulated in each tale, and the author carefully explains the point of each account. This part of the book may frustrate some readers who may not appreciate being lectured, but it also leaves no doubt as to the writer's intentions. Joseph Cariello recorded these incidents and impressions so he could offer solid advice and sincere reassurance that everyone has the ability to succeed.
A nice touch of humor and a good dose of common sense grace these pages and make The Wingy Chronicles a helpful history of one man's path to a happy life.
