A Reunion to Die For will keep readers alert. A long ago murder in a small town has a big list of suspects. In fact, most of the students in the yearbook line up as the possible murderer. Each turn of the page adds another piece to the puzzle until the much-anticipated reunion separates the killer from the cliques. The multi-layers of this mystery give the book depth, while the cast of characters adds an intriguing dimension.
Twenty years ago, Tricia Wheeler, a sweet and beautiful cheerleader, was killed. The police closed the case after all the leads turned ice cold. But when fellow classmate, Gail Reynolds, brings her investigative journalist skills back to her hometown, this murder case springs wide open leaving a trail of suspects. When the body count goes up, the spotlight of suspicion swings wildly over the former classmates, casting doubt on some of the town's more solid citizens. A deeply kept secret leaks out and threatens to wash away the veneer of respectability that hovers over the small town. The long-awaited high school reunion becomes more like the end of a police investigation with the "Student Most Likely to Get Arrested" in the photo op of the evening.
The strength of this novel is in the complexity of the characters and their motivations. This tightly woven tale will need the full concentration of readers to figure out the identity of the killer. Fans of multi-layered mysteries will enjoy this challenge. A wonderful touch of nostalgia graced these pages, as memories of high school days came alive with vibrancy. The emotional element of those teenage years was captured with sensitivity and purpose, as those same feelings were an integral part of the murder.
A Reunion to Die For mixes memories and murder to make an unforgettable story.
