Nigel Jamison finds himself involved in a strange search for his sister when pictures of her in her non-human form surface at a Sci-Fi convention.

The photos claim to be of a real alien and the photographer is willing to share. Nigel meets a woman named Sherri and is immediately attracted to her. He requests her help in the search of the photographer, to somehow retrieve the photos in order to save his sister from what fate has in store for her if he can't get the photos and somehow track her down.

Sherri is not sure that helping Nigel is the best choice, but there is something about him that draws her attention.

In the search for his sister Laura, Nigel discovers more about himself than of his sister and her recent actions. He must convince her that revealing her species to the world could very well cost her, her life. His only problem is that he cannot find her. While trying to save his sister, he begins to find himself more and more attracted to Sherri. However, would Sherri have the same feelings when she realizes his true self?

What a treat this story was to read. The originality of the plot keeps the reader glued to it and keeps you wanting more. Sealed in Blood has Margaret L. Carter giving what every avid reader loves in a plot: romance, suspense, mystery, a great mixture of twists rolled into one. I'll be looking forward to further stories by her.

Judy, a bookstore owner in San Diego, received a package from her mother with a note saying that the contents belonged to her Aunt Marta and she only wanted Judy to have it. When Judy discovers the lamp inside, she quickly believes she is going insane because a gorgeous, zmeu or "genie" appears and his sole purpose is to satisfy his owner's sexual appetite.

Of course, she thinks she is going crazy and is only dreaming until he awakens her desire and leaves her longing for more. When he saves her from a would-be thief, she is grateful for his arrival. She gives him the name Zarek and she quickly learns four things: (1.) The lamp must be kept lit at all time or he will be banished back into the lamp. (2.) In order to be free forever of the lamp, he must save a life. (3.) He has the power to ignite flame where needed. He also has no way to control the fire if his sexual need is not fulfilled. However, he must be with a beautiful, passionate woman and in his mind, the only woman for him is Judy. (4.) He has the power to find buried treasure where it would not necessarily be found.

It takes Judy awhile to realize that she is not dreaming when his need for sex starts a fire in her bookstore and on her books. She now must decide if she is to banish him back to the lamp or make it her mission to fulfill his needs.

Margaret Carter takes an old folklore and she transforms it into a sensual, erotic love story that will surely warm your heart. New Flame is a fun, romantic way of telling the tale of the zmeu. She quotes the folklore at the end of her story: "The zmeu is a creature of Moldavian and Transylvanian folklore, found in both male and female forms. It appears alternately as a flame and a seductive young man or woman. This entity is described in The Vampire Encyclopedia, by Matthew Bunson, New York, Crown Trade Paperbacks, 1993.)"
