At the end of Mayhem and Maddie, Maxine (Maxie) ended up in the hospital, barely surviving a beating from her ex-husband, Juan. Several months later she's fit, teaching self-defense classes and well, suffering from brain trauma. How else could she explain the mind-blowing sex she was having with a person she couldn't see, but could definitely feel?
Finally, Maxie takes the plunge and spills her secret to her fellow members of the Ex-files. Victoria made snide remarks, Katy was supportive but obviously thought she was nuts, and Maddie told her to thoroughly enjoy herself. After all, a dream lover who felt real was much better than BOB. Later that night as her nightly lover is pleasuring her, she takes a chance and turns on the light.
Kellen couldn't believe it. His Maxie could see him! He didn't know how she was able to see him but he knew he wanted to enjoy every moment of it. So why did she insist on leaving the mating bed and demanding to know just who he was and how he got there. It wasn't as if she was going to believe the truth: how he was a cad, always bedding women and finally one woman had enough and cursed him. And he didn't know how he ended up in the year 2004, the last thing he remembered before waking up was falling asleep in his castle in the year 252.
What to do, what to do? He had to be certifiable, right? There was no way he was telling the truth, was there? Maxie didn't know what to think or do. What did one do when your dream lover turned out to be a bed-hopping warrior from the third century? She couldn't possibly let him stay, even with the great sex, could she? Then again, what was the harm in enjoying the pleasures of the mating bed with this very virile man who wanted her with a passion?
Yet another laugh-out-loud tale by the amazing Dakota Cassidy! Maxie's Man is just as funny as the first book in The Ex-files series, Mayhem and Maddie. It always amazes me when an author manages to keep readers laughing, squirming in their seats due to high levels of eroticism, and sighing happily when love is found, recognized and returned. Ms. Cassidy does all of this in Maxie's Man and gloriously sets up the next installment, The Ex-files: Kinky Katy. Personally, I can't wait! Don't miss!
