Djinni's future was a foregone conclusion. She'd marry her cousin Djjethro-Jason (J-J), with the help of the Saurian Knights they'd overthrow the current ruler of the Tigron Empire, and then she and Jason would reform the Empire. That was her future; that was her life. Unfortunately, her future was about to change.
Tarrant-Arragon couldn't believe his ears. The woman destined to be his bride, Djinni-Vera, believed him to be a brute and bore in bed. She'd soon learn otherwise, very soon if he had his way. After all, she was the entire reason he'd come to Earth and risked open war with the Saurian Knights. He had to have a Djinn bride and he wasn't about to marry his sister. Djinni was female and therefore would fall at his feet once he made aware of his plans. He couldn't have been more wrong.
The brute kidnapped her. She didn't know who he was, but there was no mistaking what he wanted. Her psychic gifts allowed her brief glimpses into his mind: all he could think about was sex, sex, sex and more sex. If that was what he wanted, he'd certainly kidnapped the one female. A clause in her wedding contract insisted she be a virgin when she married J-J, and her fear of sex certainly helped. Nothing would make her betray her destiny or J-J; she just had to remain strong even if her captor was handsome and sent her hormones racing.
Hiding the truth about his identity was easy, winning Djinni over was easily the hardest thing he'd ever done. All he has to do is keep his lies straight until the official wedding. How hard could it be?
Is it possible for two people from totally different worlds to fall in love? Can their love survive if it's based on lies?
Love, laughter, danger, suspense, sensuality abound in Rowena Cherry's futuristic Forced Mate. The depth of this world is incredible; there was never any doubt Tarrant's world was alien. Tarrant and Djinni's relationship really is more akin to a chess game which apropos considering the title. But who know chess could be that sexy? Rowena keeps the sensuality high throughout the entire novel, a hard task for any author, but even harder when traditions and Djinni's fear stand in the way of consummation. Don't get the idea this is just a simple romance, either. The background story with the Saurian Knights, reforming the Empire, not to mention J-J's undercover role, leaves the reader desperately wanting more.
A tremendously fun read, Forced Mate shouldn't be missed.
