Hope is Constant is a story of unwavering love in an unstable period of history.

Angus McDonald had served in His Majesty's army for fifteen years. While on leave, he met and fell in love with Rachel Martin, a colonist from Georgia. Although he knew that Rachel would soon leave England and return to her brother's home in Georgia, Angus pledges his love to her and promises a future together. Little did he know that the Revolutionary War would separate them for years without any further communication.

In an ironic twist of fate, Angus finally gets a chance to contact Rachel when the British army invades her hometown of Savannah. Will the love they have for each other survive the war that threatens to tear them apart?

Filled with history and romance, readers will see the Revolutionary War from both sides of the ocean. While Angus was cautious about his country entering a war, the colonists were confident about fighting for their independence. The romantic angle had a poignant aspect when Angus and Rachel are separated. As their nations battle each other, readers will see how powerless they were to pursue their love. However, when they are reunited, they find some surprises in store for them.

In fact, there are several interesting developments in this story. For instance, as Angus marches off to war against the colonies, he's faced with an enemy among his own countrymen. Rachel, on the other hand, wanted to flee to Georgia to escape her abusive life in England, but first found herself a victim at another man's hands. The author has successfully woven this theme of uncertainty into the book, while the main characters struggle to hold on to the promise of their pledged love.

The story is filled with contrasts and characters that make this time period come alive. The tender love between a seasoned army man and a young woman filled with innocence and purity adds softness to this time period. It's also noteworthy that the main characters are Christian and their love and faith provide an inspirational element that is sure to uplift and encourage readers.

Hope is Constant is about two people in the pursuit of life, love and perfect happiness.
