Iris is just an average eleven-year-old girl who loves to dream. On her birthday, she receives a copy of Bullfinch’s mythology. As she looks through the book, she discovers notes in the margin. One of the notes asks what happens to gods when they are no longer worshipped. Another note suggests looking for Poseidon near the Margate. Iris’ wish for an adventure has begun. But will everything she learns on her journey bring joy?
Wow! Iris, Messenger is a fantastic introduction to Greek mythology. The story itself is fascinating, magical, and at times, suspenseful. Iris is a delightful heroine, imaginative, curious and caring. As delightful as Iris is, there are moments when the gods and goddess threaten to steal the spotlight.
Fun, charming and engaging, Iris, Messenger is going straight to my keeper shelf!
