Castil Il Veras is a plain, intelligent woman who works as a scribe, as her father does. Her high-born friend, Kareena, will soon be married off to a king from a foreign land. When the king first arrives, Kareena is horrified that she will have to share a bed with him.
Doranis of Helenrisia is pale of face with long and almost white hair. Instantly intrigued by the King, Castil has a secret wish that it could be her marrying Doranis. But Castil is fully aware that this man is far out of her reach and besides that is marrying her best friend.
Then suddenly a letter arrives for Castil from Kareena. The letter is from a very lonely, desperate woman. Castil decides to go visit her friend and do what she can to comfort her.
This short novel is a great blend of fantasy and erotica. I found this to be a compelling story of great friendship and an even greater love. The book is full of sensual images that will keep you moving effortlessly from page to page. This would be a great "bedtime story."
