Are Christians trying to tame the Lion of the tribe of Judah? According to pastor and author, Mike Erre, the vibrant life of Jesus has become the victim of modern thinking. Instead of the Son of God being seen as revolutionary figure, He is viewed as someone who can help believers climb the ladder of success. In this hard-hitting book, the mask of mediocrity is torn off today's churches and the real motive of the Man of Sorrows is revealed.
With piercing spiritual insights, the author diagnoses the problems, while coming alongside readers to offer possible solutions. Christians will feel the sting of his remarks, which penetrates the veil of complacency and provides a genuine motivation for change. As the prevailing message of Christianity obscures rather than reflects the Savior, the evidence is seen in the attitude and lifestyles of modern believers. Ironically, many assume the problems of the church are the result of the current secular culture creeping into the pews and pulpit. However, these pages offer persuasive arguments that the reason Christ is being diminished in the church is because the church has accepted a watered-down version of the Truth.
Each chapter examines a different aspect of this downward spiral, with all the thoughts dovetailing into a reasonable conclusion. Despite the author's urgency to get his message across, his words take on a sincerely humble flavor, as he seeks to be understood. His obvious love of Jesus Christ is the inspiration behind his words, and his remarks are like arrows of concern aimed at all the right targets. Diligent readers will gain a deeper appreciation of the message of Christ that needs to be demonstrated before it gets disguised with popular desires.
