Mickey Gerund believed he was the chosen one. He believed he was God's choice, his right hand man to stop the evils of cloning. Stop the scientist from trying to become God by scaring them off from their life's work. Killing them if need be. Dr. Davis Moore was the only blemish on his otherwise perfect record. For some reason Dr. Moore survived, the shot aimed for his heart.

Dr. Davis Moore, a prominent doctor in the field of cloning, specialized in the field of infertility. He knew that there was nothing more important in life than a child. When the police appear at his door to inform him that his own child had been raped and murdered, Dr Moore used his work as the means of escaping from the pain, keeping everyone, including his wife, at arm's length. When the police finally returned her personal effects, they had accidentally left a vile of the suspected killer's DNA in with her things. Dr. Moore, feeling depressed and robbed of an answer, decided to clone his daughter's killer to give him the opportunity to look the man in the eyes and learn why.

Cast of Shadows by Kevin Guilfoile was a mystery that I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved the fact that it kept you guessing throughout the entire story, only to surprise you in the end. Mr. Guilefoile made you feel for his characters. You felt the loneliness and despair Dr. Moore experienced with his daughter's death, the one track mind determination to find her killer. The heartache and depression Jackie Moore went through when she realized that she'd lost her husband along with her daughter that fateful day. And the fanatical devotion to God and his cause Mickey felt during his mission. If you like suspense and a whodunit that keeps you on your toes then this is the book for you.
