It had been several hours and Maureen was waiting on the witness to talk through her experience. Only after the witness had calmed her thoughts would she be able to describe the murderer.

A forensic artist, Maureen Lowe was gifted artistically. Her drawings had helped police officers apprehend criminals all over the country. But this time it was different. This murder had taken place in her hometown, the last place anyone expected a murder. Her drawing complete, she handed it into her old friend and police officer, Clay Stanton, to place in the morning paper.

Early the next morning, Maureen receives a call from Clay asking her to return to the Granite Run police station. Based on her picture, the suspect had been found and was currently in the chief's office with his lawyer. The suspect claimed he was innocent and wanted to go through a lineup immediately. Unfortunately, the witness refused to identify him unless Maureen was in the room with her.

Brody Parrish couldn't believe it. Wanted for murder? The idea was ridiculous; he was a Parrish. Granted, he had a history with the victim, but that didn't necessarily make him a murderer. He was confident that the witness wouldn't be able to pick him out of a lineup, even if she had described him perfectly.

When the witness easily identifies him as the murderer, things in Granite Run become interesting. With the police chief trying to keep Brody out of jail and the whole affair out of the papers, Officer Clay Stanton is doing his best to make sure he lands behind bars and through it all, Maureen is having a hard time fighting her attraction to Brody. Now is not really the time to be entering a relationship with Brody, but her heart tells her he's innocent. If she takes a chance on her heart, will she be the next victim?

Picture of Guilt by Helen Haddad is a brilliant mystery, blending heart-pounding suspense and sizzling sexual tension. The reader is kept on their toes, always questioning the motives of Brody, Clay Stanton, Victoria Parrish and most of all, the murderer. As the storyline grows more complex, the reader's worry for Maureen's safety grows tenfold, desperately hoping for happy ending. Ms. Haddad's debut novel is gem, reminiscent of Linda Howard & Jayne Ann Krentz. Don't miss.
