In the latest Anita Blake novel, Anita is back in St. Louis. Officially still on vacation from her men, she is forced to call Jean-Claude when two of her were-leopards are held captive. Jean-Claude agrees to help if Anita will discuss marrying their marks, effectively merging their auras.

Anita is unhappy at the prospect of seeing Jean-Claude and Richard. Yet the merging of their abilities and auras has her scared stiff. The merging strengthens all their powers, but has an unexpected side effect for Anita. She inherits the ardeur, the thirst for sex.

Her self-control in tatters, life for Anita is quickly becoming crazy. Not only must she deal with the ardeur, pack problems, but also her growing attraction to the Micah, a Nimir-Ra or leopard king. When leaders and key people in the shape-shifter community disappear, her vacation ends. Anita must regain control or risk losing everything. And will Anita finally choose between Richard and Jean-Claude? Or will she give her heart to her Nimir-Ra, Micah?

Laurell K. Hamilton never ceases to amaze! I have enjoyed all of Ms. Hamilton's novels, yet Narcissus in Chains is the best. We are given a more in-depth look at Anita and the relationship with her friends. Full of suspense, laughs and unbelievable sensuality and a few twists, this is an unforgettable novel. The sensuality sizzles, leaving me breathless. A definite keeper and must-read!

What do you do when you're the Princess of the Unseelie Court and you're dealing with assassination attempts? You go to LA, where everyone and anyone can hide. Merry Gentry aka Princess Meredith NicEssus is there working for a paranormal investigation service. While looking into a case dealing with possible murder and worshipping of a Fey, Merry's cover is blown.

Her aunt, the Queen of Air and Darkness, has requested Merry to come back to the Unseelie Court. For what reason, Merry doesn't know. However, she and some others foil further assassination attempts on her life. In fact, the Queen's Darkness helps prevent Merry's untimely death.

Once back in the Court, Merry finds that her Aunt has rescinded the celibacy vow for her Royal Guards, the Ravens. But it's revoked only for Merry. Merry has the right to choose any of the twenty-seven men in the Queen's Guard to sleep with and become pregnant by one of them. Whom will Merry choose and what alliances will Merry make while there in Court?

I won't spoil the ending for you but know that Laurell Hamilton has created an outstanding universe here. She has brought to life the Unseelie Court of the Sidhe in a way many people have never seen. These are not the Faeries you think with wings. These are proud beings of magick, many who've been worshipped as gods at one time or another. They are gorgeous sensual beings who shine with glamour and magick of presence.

If you want a book that hits the paranormal head on and throws in some sensual moments that will rock your world into a loop, pick up A Kiss of Shadows. Her next Meredith Gentry book, A Caress of Twilight is out now as well.
