Award-winning illustrator Stephen Heigh presents a story from his daughter's childhood.
Mr. George is an ordinary squirrel. One day he finds a red doll hat and wonders who could use it. After dismissing many of animal friends, he tries it on and realizes he could use it. During the spring, Mr. George hears about a young mother bird and offers her the hat to use for a nest.
Breathtaking illustrations and a heartwarming story make Mr. George and the Red Hat a perfect read-aloud story. All three of my children loved this story. My oldest has enjoyed retelling the story to his siblings; the middle child enjoys pouring over the realistic illustrations. As for my youngest, she loves pointing at the red and yelling squirrel on every page. Destined for many more bedtimes at my house, Mr. George and the Red Hat is a keeper!
