Lauren, a sexual dominant, recently got out of a very bad relationship with a submissive that left her emotions in tatters, and her self-confidence and self-esteem at an all time low. She decides to go to a reclusive island for a much-needed vacation in an attempt to come to terms with her life. When her girlfriend backs out due to some last minute commitments, Lauren decides to still go; knowing that time alone was just what she needed to get over her ex-boyfriend Jonathan.

At the last minute, Lisette tells Lauren that she will not be completely alone on the island; as it is made up of exclusive homes for artists and the rich. She is told that there is caretaker that stays there to take care of the houses and sometimes his friend, but she has nothing to worry about for the caretaker's friend is gay.

Due to some unusual circumstances, Lauren meets up with Josh and his friend Marcus. While both men are very handsome, Josh is the one that catches Lauren's attention. She feels Josh is a kindred spirit and their attraction is instant. But she notices his broken spirit and sees the sadness in his eyes. With the help of Josh's friend Marcus, will Lauren be able to mend Josh's spirit as well as her own?

Holding the Cards is a very moving story of two broken spirits coming together to heal each other with the help of a very caring friend. The bond and closeness these three people create is very special and one you don't see very often. In Holding the Cards, Ms. Hill did a wonderful job creating very likeable characters and telling a very special story filled with romance and very hot sex. She shows that sometimes a little TLC can go along way in healing a broken spirit and heart.
