Times are tough and many people, including Susan Riley, have lost their jobs. Hence, it was imperative that she get the clerk position at the In N' Out grocery store. When she gets the job, she knows it is only because of God's grace. Thankful beyond words she sets out to do her best at her job. Soon she develops a relationship with her boss, Bill Foster. But ugly memories and events from her past are rearing their ugly heads. Can their relationship survive?

Bill Foster is glad to have Susan Riley working for him. She is a smart, young woman whom he would like to get to know. But he cannot seem to do so until he has paid off all the bills for his late wife's hospitalization. Added to that he feels guilty about his previous marriage and about his friendship with Susan. Can Bill let go of his guilt and help Susan as she battles confusion and fear?

This book was an interesting read. The small town atmosphere is accurately portrayed throughout the novel as Bill and Susan battle gossip and other aspects of small town living. The characters are developed well. Susan's optimistic nature is believable due to the fact that the author includes moments when she is down and miserable. Bill seesaws in his intentions toward Susan since he feels that he needs to first clear of the medical bills before considering a relationship with her. This is an extremely plausible scenario. The storyline is kind of slow at the beginning and it takes a while for the readers to get into the novel. However, soon it picks up speed, keeping the readers interested. I am looking forward to more books from Sheila Holloway and would recommend this book to all book lovers!
