Landowner Kate Black feels like she could break every rule there ever was about love and sex. Jake brings her feelings she's never had before. Never in her life had she ever wanted to be naughty. Just thinking of Jake brings feelings and desires to her that are bone deep. When she sees him, oh goodness, she's ready to jump him. He sets a fire in her. Well, what is it about him, then?

Jake Green is in town investigating sabotage at his oil company. He is divorced, busy, and a traveler for his oil company. Could that be why he's so turned on by Kate? Because he's been too busy to get involved with anyone? It's got to be. It certainly could not be her. She's not even his type. Why is it, though, that he's half-hard every time he's around her, thinks of her? Can he just have a brief fling without getting involved?

One way, Jake tries to avoid desiring Kate is by comparing her to his ex-wife. The problem is they are nothing at all alike. Kate keeps surprising him. First, it was sexual attraction. But as time goes on, it is much more than that. He realizes that he really likes her and that a quick roll in the hay won't satisfy him. A similar thing happens to Kate. Jake is not at all what he seemed when she first met him. All of a sudden, she wants to peel the layers away and find out who Jake really is. As she does so, she likes him more and more.

As Kate's feelings become deeper and deeper for Jake, it makes her very happy, gives her promise. Jake, on the other hand, is more and more pained as his emotions get caught up in the firestorm Kate creates. His past has left him tortured, jaded. Will that ever change? Will Jake open up his heart enough to allow love to fill it? Will Kate accept this man who desires her, but could possibly never love her?

Firestorm gives us a nice basis to Jake and Kate's relationship. It is nice to read a book that has the couple develop a strong emotional bond before they go to bed. But, once they do, watch out! This is a tender love story that kept my interest. I felt for both Jake and Kate and wondered if there would be enough time to make this work. I also I felt like I was given a special treat when I met secondary characters from another of Ms. Jacobs' books. Read Firestorm and you will enjoy the same treats and more.

Love has a magic of its own.

Garrett Bryant was a bounty hunter. Or rather he had been before an accident almost cost his life. Now he's recuperating in an out of the way bed-and-breakfast, cursing his ex-wife and his feelings for her. More than anything he wanted her back. Wanted to love her like when they first met, before they grew apart.

When his ex-wife, Elaine calls saying their daughter had run away, he knew he had to join the search. Finding people that didn't wish to be found was his job and this time it was personal. Before he leaves, his landlady gives him two stones, saying they would help him if he believed in their magic.

In all their time apart his desire for Elaine never wavered and apparently neither had hers for him. As they rekindle their love, the stones begin to work their magic. But will the magic help them find their daughter Leah before it's too late?

My biggest complaint is Colors of Magic is too short! I wanted to see more of Garrett and Elaine; not to mention the hot sex scenes. How Ms. Jacobs manages to bring these characters to life so well in such a short space boggles the mind. I'm definitely going to be reading more of her work.
