Joan of Summerfield escapes a nunnery after being exiled there by her father. However, Joan is accosted by a band of men, who intend to rape her. When Rolfe deVere happens upon the scene, he saves her. However, she cannot remember where she is, or even her name. Rolfe takes one look at this stunning lady and calls her Jasmine, the name of an exquisite flower that he compares to her beauty.

Rolfe deVere is in need of an heiress. The lands and title he covets are out of reach until he weds. He's been on a search that has proved futile until now. Rolfe takes Jasmine to his home at Hedgewick Keep. Jasmine serves as an exciting distraction to Rolfe, as they have an immediate and intense reaction to each other.

Rolfe sees everything in Jasmine that he would want in a bride. However, with her not remembering anything about herself, he does not know if he can wed her. For political reasons, they may not be able to wed, no matter how much they feel for each other. Jasmine wants nothing more than to be with Wolfe, because she may not remember much, but she can absolutely recognize the look of lust in her savior's eyes. She knew this man, this Rolfe, was her destiny. It is imperative that Rolfe and Jasmine find out her identity.

Ann Jacobs pens a great historical. He Calls Her Jasmine tells us the passionate story of two people who hope to build a life, a family, a future. Everything comes together in this beautiful story when Jasmine begins to regain her memory.

Gray Syzmanski, a former DEA agent, had spent seven years in a South American jungle; he was imprisoned, beaten, and barely escaped with his life. When Gray decides to make good use of his law degree in his home town of Tampa, he receives a double shock. His associate, Tony, is friends with the one woman whose memories sustained him all those years, and is suddenly about to be back in his life. He also finds out Andi Young has a young son, Brett.

Andi believed Brett's father died while on assignment in South America. Brett's father and Andi only had one hot weekend together, but enough for him to be permanently seared in her mind. Whenever she finds out that her friend Tony has a new associate in his law firm, named Gray Syzmanski, Andi's heart nearly stops beating.

What type of homecoming with these two share? Will it be a Bittersweet Homecoming when Andi learns that Gray, her perfect hero, a sexually dominant man, who has entertained her with many dreams throughout the years, is now crippled? What will Gray think when he sees beautiful Andi, and also discovers he is a father?

Gray is determined to rebuild his life. Now he must make an extension of that goal, in order to get to know Brett. The amount of pain Gray is coping with makes him uncomfortable to spend time with Brett alone, so he and Andi spend weekends together. This time for Brett and Gray turns into time for Gray and Andi. Andi is not sure what to do. This man, this once virulent man, is someone she still wants with an intense passion, but she doesn't know how that will happen. The memories of the sexual gymnastics don't match the picture of the man in front of her.

Gray spoiled Andi for any other man during that fantastic weekend they shared. Now, Andi must cope with mixed feelings caused by her reaction to Gray in a wheelchair. The feelings range from passion, to sadness, and definitely run deep. She wants a family, she wants Gray, so it becomes nearly impossible to prevent her physical longings for him from growing. In the meantime, Gray is coping with a desire so deep, so overwhelming, yet so saddening for Andi. He wants her; he never stopped wanting her. But he feels he is not man enough for her. Gray feels she deserves more.

This exploration of Andi and Gray's feelings and desires is amazing. It is incredible to see an alpha male, utterly dominant, learn to accept limitations in his sexual relationship with Andi, all while allowing enough love to grow to sustain them both. Andi is one tough cookie. She raised Brett by himself, so the challenge of loving Gray is something that she fights for with vigor.

Ann Jacobs has written a sensitive and passionate story that is sure to capture every reader's emotions. Watching each character run through the gamut of emotions results in similar feelings to the reader - from draining to exhilarating. When a writer can snatch me away from real life, and pull me into the characters' heads and hearts, then I'm hooked. Every time I have the opportunity of reading a book by Ms. Jacobs, I am thoroughly impressed.
