When his late Grandfather passed away he bequeathed his twenty-five acre Colorado farm to Heath. Remembering the tall tales, or so his family dubbed them, that his Grandfather told him Heath sets out to explore it and search for the elusive fairy pool. Of course being a good story it doesn't end there. Heath is dragged into the pool and falls headlong into a magical world of fairy sprites, strange food and talking animals. Add to the mix the mysterious Elena who in turn has a hidden agenda of her own, Heath tumbles from one adventure to another. Although when Lord Conal, Elena's father enters the fray, Heath stands to lose more than his proximity to Elena. Forced to complete three impossible tasks Heath is plunged into a uncertainty that can only be aided by relationships he forged with animals. Can he ever hope to see Elena again?

A wholly enjoyable experience! Elizabeth Jewell spins a yarn of gold, her descriptions of Heath's inheritance literally pull you into Elena's world with him. From disbelief, confusion, acceptance, panicked worry to eventual happiness there's a myriad run of emotions that are all touched with a polished finesse of a seasoned writer. Heath, our hero is not perfect but that's practically what draws you to read about him. Watching him seize every task with a "bring it on" attitude and then reading about how he accomplishes it is guaranteed to make you consider how you treat people below you. Elena is fun to watch evolve from a shadowy figure into the love of Heath's life. A determined gal who gets what she wants is the perfect foil to Heath's laid back strength. Her father is a suitable villain who uses every trick he can to keep our young lovers apart and watching Heath and Elena overcome all obstacles when the stacks are placed against them will keep you embroiled in suspense as the black point in the story is very black indeed. Miss at your own peril. Bwahahahahahahaha! Seriously, a gem of a book not to be missed.

Human. Well, he certainly wasn't human anymore. Bitten by a vampire and rescued before she could completely turn him, Riordan was something more than human, but less than vampire. He had enhanced night vision and strength; he'd also gained the vampiric thirst. The majority of the time his thirst could be assuaged by sex, lots of it, but every now and then he had to have blood. His experience had changed him in many ways, the most obvious his lack of trust in anyone or anything. Even his profession had changed.

A vampire hunter, Riordan was hunting the latest vampire terrorizing the city when he came across Roarke. Using his normal detection means, he determines Roarke is one vampire he can let live. After all, he's on the Hemoglobin Twelve Step Program. To Riordan's great surprise, Roarke is hunting the same vampire. Even after witnessing Roarke kill a fellow vampire, Riordan doesn't trust him.

But he can't refuse Roarke's help in locating the dead vampire's twin brother. Heck, he hadn't even known it was two vamps until Roarke told him. Still trusting a vamp wasn't something he'd ever planned on doing. So why had he invited him to his home? Even more troubling was how he dreaded finding the other vamp and his relationship with Roarke ended.

Can a vampire hunter and vampire trust each other? Or will their passion be Riordan's doom?

Dark Callings: Bloodlines is an unforgettably, blisteringly hot romp through the world of vampires, hunger and sex. Ms. Jewell's first foray into the world of male/male erotica is truly astounding. Bloodlines is short, but Ms. Jewell brings depth to the characters and an emotional attachment. This isn't one of those eroticas where sex is the main element; there is emotion, excitement, danger and, did I mention vampires? *g* This reader fervently hopes Dark Callings: Bloodlines is the first of many male/male erotic romances Elizabeth Jewell pens. Don't miss!
