Something that Lasts is a keeper! Grab some tissues; better yet, take the whole box and settle in for a heart- wrenching story. Although adultery is often glamorized, these pages take a sensitive look at the futility of unfaithfulness.

David Parst, pastor, husband and father, decided to sleep with a woman who was not his wife. His little secret was revealed in the sanctuary of his own church, causing irreparable harm to those he loved. As the years pass, time diminished the initial shock of this revelation, yet nothing was ever the same. Follow these flesh and blood characters through the years as they try to live with broken hearts and indelible memories.

Author James David Jordan has taken a contemporary issue and clothed it with a searing layer of reality. The effects of one man's indiscretion left ripples of unrest, leading from his own home and years later, into the marriage and family life of his son. It is here that the novel gathers intensity, as the characters struggle to put their shattered lives back together. Readers will be deeply moved by the emotional encounters, which are portrayed with a compelling sense of compassion and honesty.

Viewing adultery from a Christian perspective allowed this story to enter a deeper level, as the issues of forgiveness and love were explored. The hand of God was seen working in the lives of these people in a tender and gentle way. Heartache and hope joined together for memorable moments, causing both the characters and the readers to think about the important areas in life. Through strong characterization and heartfelt dialogue, the author decisively removes the mask of acceptability from adultery, while clearly revealing a path to an emotionally healthy future.
