After losing her job at a prestigious college, Dr. Margaret Amis-Hollings wonders what she will do to make ends meet. Granted, not working means she will be able to concentrate more on her writing and get commitments for articles in an attempt to be resigned at the beginning of the next school year, but what is she going to do until then? She has to have some way to make money and pay her rent. The solution arrives in the form of a letter from her great-aunt's solicitor. Her aunt has died and left her antebellum home, River Peace, to Margaret.
Margaret decides to sublet her apartment and spend the rest of the year at her inherited home getting it ready to sell. This way she'll have time to write, not have to worry too much about her rent, and take a well-earned break. She didn't anticipate the quirks of small Southern towns, an arrogant but gorgeous carpenter or a ghostly lover.
Aaron Belton had tried many times to purchase River Peace from it's former owner, but she'd always refused. It was well known around town the Belton clan believed River Peace belonged to them, but since no proof was ever found to prove their ancestor Aaron Belton had married Margaret Thornton (the original owner of River Peace) the house had remained in the hands of Margaret Thornton's family. He couldn't stand Margaret Amis-Hollings attitude but there was something about her he just couldn't resist. All he has to do his hide his intentions regarding the house, fix it up the way it should be, then buy it from her. Falling in love was not part of the plan.
Margaret didn't believe in true love; she believed there could be deep feelings for another and great passion, but not everlasting love. So why was she able to picture a future with Aaron? But will these two stubborn, self-assured people reach an understanding when the truth about Aaron's interest in River Peace is revealed? And will they ever learn what happened between their ancestors?
Passionate Destiny is a beautiful story of an enduring love, new love, and two people finding what they really want from life. Margaret is a heroine to be admired, when events in her life force her to change and reevaluate her life, she takes time to grieve and then acts decisively. Later when she learns the man she has come to love lied to her from the start, she is angry and hurt and reacts in such a manner. While I foresaw the effects of Aaron's lie from the beginning, this didn't detract from my enjoyment it enhanced it. It made me all the more impatient and desperate to learn how Aaron and Margaret would work through it. Reading their reconciliation was almost more wonderful than the rest of the story. Ms. Knight is an awesome writer and one I make a point not miss. Her portrayal of Southerners with all the romance, the charm and gallantry is heart-warming, especially to this Southern girl. All too often Southerners are portrayed as ignorant, backward hicks concerned only with rebuilding the South as it was.
The paranormal elements of Passionate Destiny are a great addition, enhancing the storyline considerably. Throw in the intriguing secondary characters and you have a must read novel. Passionate Destiny is yet another winner from the talented Ms. Knight.

Impatient Passion by Dee S. Knight is one of the most amazing novels I have read this year. It's highly erotic, full of romance and great characters, but more than that it is an unforgettable journey of one woman's desire and struggle to change her life.
An award-wining web designer, Austin Gardner was tired of her life. Every day she went to work at job she loved, but even that didn't excite her. Her thirty-fifth birthday was rapidly approaching and as she thought about her life, she knew and desperately wanted a change. When her boss Tyler Birch calls her into his office for a meeting, she's a tiny bit worried.
After he tells her what a good job she's been doing, he asks if she would be willing to present her latest designs to a prospective client. Austin is thrilled, she really felt her co-worker wouldn't be able to capture and explain just why she had designed and incorporated certain things. There's just one catch: her boss wants her to change her look. The t-shirts and baggy pants were fine for every day work in the office, but for a meeting with prospective clients it left much to be desired.
Austin didn't know whether to be angry or hurt. Yes, she needed a change, but did her boss really have to point out her dressing faults? As she thinks about, she realizes Tyler is right and decides to make a change. Maybe this would be a starting point in turning her life around.
That evening as she rides home on the bus, she bumps into a stranger who instead of pushing her away pulls her close. He calls her by her middle name, Dulcinea and proceeds to discreetly fondle her. Austin can't believe she allowed a total stranger to touch her but can't deny how he makes her feel alive and very feminine.
As Austin begins to make changes in her life and spends time with a mystery man who knows so much about her, her relationship with Tyler Birch begins to change. They've gone from bristly co-workers to friends to lovers. But when they both make certain confessions, will their newfound love be able to withstand the test of time?
Out of all Ms. Knight's wonderful stories, Impatient Passion is the best. Austin entranced me, made herself at home in my heart and refused to leave. Watching her take steps to change her life and becoming more self-confidant and aware of who she was was unforgettable. Here was a woman who knew she needed and wanted to change, but had no idea how to go about it. A simple remark by her boss starts a chain reaction which led to her finding herself, improving her relationship with her mother, finding love and learning more about her own strengths and weaknesses. Impatient Passion is going straight to my keeper shelf, right after I get through rereading for the third time. Don't miss this incredible novel.
