The title, Nocturnal Witchcraft conjures up images of witches dancing under the full moon working all sorts of dark spells. The author delves into soul types under the aspects of Light/Dark and good/bad. As he explains each of the four soul types, those of you who've ever played Dungeons and Dragonsİ will recall alignments of neutral good and neutral evil and how they can seem one way but at unusual times can allow things to happen that seems against their presented nature. He explains how we might ourselves experience each type as we learn and progress in our lives. Emphasizing balance, the author mentions how if we're trying to be Good/Light and we might fail at something and be severely affected by it, we might go to another type like Light/Evil. He reminds us a basic fact: "You chose to be the way you are." You can change it if you feel you want to, but some might be how they are for a lifetime. It's our choice.

Nocturnal Witchcraft delves into the magick of the night. It doesn't work with solar energy but embraces the night and the moon. You will learn to cast circles and spells with the phases of the moon as your guide and the only colours you need use are black and silver. Within the next few chapters, we learn about the major holidays, same as the ones in Wicca and most Pagan belief systems. Also covered are the phases of the moon and what kind of magick is associated with each phase. Basic instruction on tools and your altar is given. There is a nice chapter dealing with the gods and goddesses as seen from their dark or night aspects.

Konstantinos has created an indepth book that deals with working night magick. Though some of it has basis in traditional Wicca, it goes beyond that and emphasizes balance. He goes into great detail about creating a circle as well as a pentagram for working in. Inner quiet of the mind and its power is delved into with some easy visualizations and exercises to learn to focus your mental energy. Each chapter takes you deeper in learning about your inner energy as you hone it for use. One of the last chapters deals with the issue of death, near death experiences and a practice similar to what Druids do in speaking with those who've died.

I enjoyed Nocturnal Witchcraft very much. Though there were a couple of areas that I found myself not quite meeting eye to eye with the author, this book is definitely one for anyone who feels more drawn to the moon and the darkness of the night. It's more of an intermediate book than for beginners, but it's definitely one you'll want to read if you want to understand about the power of the mind, working lunar magick, and what it means to walk a dark, nocturnal path. I've found myself marking pages for future reference because of the elegance and balance inherent in some of the spells and techniques he presents. This book deepens your knowledge of the power of the night, which some people mistake as evil and shows you truly the essence of nocturnal magick.
