Ugly Fish was ugly, big and mean. He liked having his tank and special briny flakes to himself. Then one day a new fish appeared in his tank. Will Ugly Fish accept his new companion?

In this unique take on bullying, author Kara LaReau shows this story from the bully's point-of-view. As the story progress, parents will wonder if Ugly Fish will learn bullying isn't nice and leaves you isolated. My kids thought Ugly Fish was mean and find the end funny. I would recommend this to parents to use as a way of discussing bullying with older children rather than as a storybook. Younger children not might be able to understand the bullying concept.

Rocko and Spanky are two adorable sock monkey siblings, who are expecting a special visitor. They clean the house, well...Rocko cleans; Spanky has a tendency to make more work. After the cleaning is finished, the monkeys realize they don't have any food in the house to serve their guests, so Rocko heads to the grocery store. He is supposed to pick up bread, peanut butter, and bananas, but is distracted by coconut soda and marshmallows. What will happen when Rocko and Spanky's guest arrives?

Rocko and Spanky Have Company is such a cute story! The illustrations are fun and capture the delightfulness of childhood. Combined with the silly and intriguing storyline (readers are not told who the guest is only that the guest is important), this is one of the those books children will ask to read over and over again and parents will agree without moaning. How can you be upset over the prospect of reading about sock monkeys? *laughs* Throw in the fun recipe included and you'll see why Rocko and Spanky Have Company is a delight for all ages.
