Being stranded in the country ends up being a Chance of a Lifetime for Trace Jones.
Trace is traveling back home to California to pack up and prepare to start a new job in Chicago. When he ends up in Klayville, Missouri - population 103 - he feels like he's in a time warp.
Emily Payton is in a panic. When Trace Jones crashes into her life, it doesn't take long for Em to realize her life will never be the same. When Em sees that a sports car has hit her picker sheller, a piece of farm machinery, she panics. It's stormy and wet, it's late, and they are in the middle of nowhere. When the stranger gets out of his car, wobbly and with slurred speech, Em has no choice but to put him up at a cabin on her property so she can at least treat the bump on his head, and he can find some way to get his car fixed.
A country farmer. A city boy. Forced together by even more strenuous circumstances as time progresses, all the while, a blooming attraction is being avoided. How long will Trace be at Em's? Who will cave in to the pulsing attraction first? Will these strikingly different people find a way to meld their lives together?
Amy Leigh has written a story that will hold your interest from the very start. We quickly learn that Em is in danger of losing her farm, her livelihood. Em's strength during these difficult times is inspiring. Trace is a man you can't help but love. He adapts quickly to his changed circumstances, while maintaining a wonderful sense of humor. It was impossible not to laugh out loud at times while Trace was learning to take care of the duties on the farm.
Chance of a Lifetime is a thoroughly enjoyable read, with a conclusion that is sure to put a lump in your throat. Be sure to pick up a copy. You will be glad to have read this book by Ms. Leigh.
