Veronica Andrews has been in love with the sexy and mysterious Taber for years. Roni's attraction for Taber especially intensified right after she turned sixteen, then again right after her twenty-second birthday. This attraction is a confusing mixture of fear and arousal. Roni can't understand her desire, and she's hoping that Taber will finally pay attention to her.

When Taber finds Roni's been arrested and in the local jail, he rushes to get her released. For years Taber has been resisting his lust for Roni, but this particular day he makes a decision, to finally have her the way he's been wanting. He wants to make sure that Roni knows what she's getting into and makes plans for the coming night. He just has to taste her though, marking her, binding her.

Fifteen months later, Roni sees something utterly shocking on the news. She sees a picture of Merinus Lyons' shoulder, where Merinus has a bite quite similar to a bite Taber left on her on the night he left her high and dry. She has suffered an undeniable lust, painful at times, for Taber. Now she is beginning to understand why, and what happened. Taber is one of the Feline Breeds, and his saliva, as well as his semen, contains a hormone that behaves like an aphrodisiac. Now Roni can understand her insatiable desires. If she didn't already hate Taber for not coming to her that night, she does now.

Taber finds out that Roni is in danger. She'd been accosted by reporters who identified the mark he left on her shoulder. In a moment of passion, Taber has made Roni her mate. However, he left her to suffer for fifteen months. What else could he do? She said she never wanted to see him again, so he left her alone.

Forced together, Roni and Taber find it impossible to ignore the mating frenzy that is affecting Roni. Taber, understanding how the mating thing works, now knows he is Roni's mate and that he must feed her desires. As intense as their mating is, Taber's heart remains locked. After all these months, they each believed the other didn't want the affair.

Danger, passion and intrigue follow Roni and Taber in The Man Within. Just because Roni and Taber are together certainly doesn't mean their problems have come to an end. As Taber was conceived in a test-tube as part of a genetic experiment where animal DNA was used, this Feline Breed, and all the others, are greatly endangered. The danger towards Roni and Merinus is even more, as they are the two human mates to the Feline Breeds, Taber and Callan.

Every Breed book I've read to date has captured my attention. Watching passion turn to love, amidst danger, is a titillating experience. This is another of Lora Leigh's books that is impossible to put down. After reading the wonderful Tempting the Beast, I just had to read this book, The Man Within right away. I was compelled with the trials the Breeds have endured, their precarious freedom, and their relationships with the women who are mated with them for life. Taber and Roni's story is absolutely wonderful, and it has a strong sense of tenderness. If you have enjoyed the first Feline Breeds series, without a doubt know that this one is one you'll not want to miss.

I was eager to see the resolution of Kane and Sherra's story, whom we first met in Tempting the Beast. That hasn't happened yet, even though both were part of helping Roni and Taber. So I went to Ms. Leigh's website at www.loraleigh.com to see if there was a chance another Feline Breed story is on the horizon. I was thrilled to find out that Kiss of Heat, scheduled for release in December, will contain this eagerly-awaited story.

Merinus Tyler wants to be a journalist in her own right. Crowded by her father and seven brothers, Merinus is desperate to take a particular assignment. Another compelling reason that causes Merinus to insist on this assignment is the picture of Callan Lyons itself. Just looking at his face, his amber eyes, obsesses Merinus. With the help of her oldest brother, Kane, Merinus gets this difficult assignment.

A friend of Merinus's father has died, Dr. Maria Morales. Before her death, she sent a box to John Tyler containing details concerning her son, Callan Lyons. The box contained incriminating evidence against the secret Genetics Council in which surrogate mothers carried babies conceived in test tubes that were partially created with animal DNA. The Council's purpose was to create savage killers. The Breeds have escaped, and are living outside of the Council with as normal lives as possible. However, the Council must pay in some way or another for the brutal experiments performed on these Breeds, the Feline Breeds.

Stunningly gorgeous Callan just wants to be left alone. The last thing he wants is to talk to some journalist who is asking way too many questions. Callan has fled for his life more than once, and he is now living a quiet existence in a small town. Stalked by a beautiful journalist, Callan enjoys a brief, but sexy, game of cat and mouse. Constantly being stalked by mercenaries who would love to continue the brutal experiments, Callan knows he must try to ignore his strong attraction to Merinus, else her life will be in danger by the mercenaries.

Why has the attraction Merinus feels for Callan grown to a level of new heights all of a sudden? What will Callan do when he finds he's become bound to Merinus?

From the beginning when Merinus was simply attracted by a photograph, to when she sees Callan pleasing himself knowing she's his audience, to when Callan and Merinus have their first sexual experience, the sexual tension in Tempting the Beast is incredible. Another amazing thing about this book is how we the reader are able to get into Merinus's mind, understanding how frustrated she was with the Council. Another battle that is written with utter intensity is the various decisions Merinus is forced to make when considering her loyalty to her family and learning how much she can trust Callan.

Whether we are enjoying the many sex scenes between Callan and Merinus, or whether we are caught up in the danger involving the Feline Breeds, and ultimately Merinus, Tempting the Beast is sure to enthrall every reader. Don't miss this book, along with an amazing twist that just might shock you.

What a great introduction to Lora Leigh's Feline Breeds series! Once you read this, you just might have to do what I did - grab The Man Within, which is the next sensual treat in this series. Take a moment to visit Ms. Leigh's website at www.loraleigh.com so you can see what else Ms. Leigh has in store for this and other wonderful series.
