The Hidden stands at the forefront of Christian fiction! With a spiritually perceptive plot, and writing that is nothing short of riveting, these pages seem to turn by themselves!

Susan Stone is a psychiatrist who desperately needs help. Still grieving from the death of her son, she returns to her home in Colorado to help her ailing father on his horse ranch. A powerful combination of memories from her abusive childhood and the tragic delivery of a prized foal cause her to saddle up a horse and race madly into the mountains. However, her search for an emotional escape leads her to a mysterious young man who is chained near a cave. When Susan unlocks his shackles, her life becomes bound to him in ways she could never imagine.

The plot is poised between two worlds: one that is seen and the other that is felt. Eons of time separate these worlds, yet they are brought together with the skillful writing and imagination of Kathryn Mackel. She based the story upon a verse in Jude: "And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority, but abandoned their own home- these He has kept under darkness, bound with everlasting chains." These words of the Bible take on a heightened significance as the characters in this book interact in strange and wonderful ways.

The identity of the man Susan rescues becomes the focal point of the novel. After adopting the name, Jacob, he candidly admits he doesn't remember anything about himself. A battery of psychological testing reveals some confusing information, while a DNA report seems unbelievable. Yet, when a series of horrific murders take place in this peaceful town, the police wonder if Jacob is truly as innocent as he looks.

The author steadily builds the suspense, one page at a time, until events explode with shocking spiritual implications. Although a work of fiction, the plot teeters on the edge of reality. The biblical authority strengthens the story line, causing readers to have a renewed appreciation for the mighty power and mercy of God. The spiritual and emotional aspects of this book blend together in seamless harmony, with each part complementing and completing the other.

Don't be surprised if a few tears fall on the last page!
