The Kingfisher Children's Illustrated Dictionary and Thesaurus is a comprehensive dictionary and thesaurus specifically created for children ages 9-12, the time period when young children are expanding their vocabulary quite rapidly. With the use of both photographs and illustrations, this dictionary provides over 600 colorful pictures to detail many of the 4,000 plus definitions. The thesaurus is included in a separate section at the end of the book and lists over 5,000 entries. The definitions themselves are detailed, using words young children will understand.
The paper used for the book is heavy, being able to stand up to repeated look-ups, and the $12.95 price is an excellent value for such a comprehensive and informative dictionary/thesaurus. I, for one, am greatly impressed, and know my children will get much use from this user-friendly dictionary and thesaurus.
