Eventide has the quietness of nightfall with the promise of a brilliant dawn! Everything about this book is beautiful, from the eloquent, sensitive writing to the plot that pulses with a myriad of emotions. Cindy Martinusen captures real life in these pages and gently guides readers through a story that is both poignant and powerful.
It started in Italy in 1989. Carrie and Graham experienced a once-in-a-lifetime love, only to have it die in a swirl of confusion. Graham's past came in the way of their future, yet Carrie never understood why. The years passed; she married and had a son. But now she's dying, a young woman with some old questions.
Can Carrie re-visit her past and finally put it to rest? Is Graham able to expose the truth and risk what he fears most?
This story glides along with the gentleness of a summer breeze. The relationship between Carrie and Graham is unfolded slowly and with the perfect amount of intrigue. These pages take readers to the past and back again to paint a picture of young lovers and confused adults. As Carrie's physical condition worsens, a sense of urgency enters the story. The hope for a happy ending vies with the need for a satisfying conclusion. The author is faithful to both the characters and her audience, as she closes the book with the best possible resolution.
As readers leave the story, they will be filled with the hope that the end can also be a beginning. The love of Carrie and Graham can never really die; it's only waiting for a new day to dawn.
Eventide is breathtakingly beautiful!
