Anyone who's read any Celtic myths have always been amazed at the story of Gwydion, who accidentally takes in the three drops of Inspiration from Cerridwen's cauldron, thus becoming, after some amazing things, the well known bard, Taliesin. But have you ever wondered if he was a real man and what was he?

John Matthews takes an indepth look at the myths, the poems, and more that are about Taliesin and has compiled a wonderful book that deals with who he was, what he was, and how we can learn from the ancient bard today. Taliesin exhibits many of the skills we often associate with shamans and by taking the time to read his words and place them in context, we can see Taliesin's druidic practice as a bard and more.

With the help of his wife, Caitlin Matthews, they have even included many of the poems that were written or attributed to Taliesin in this book. But beyond that, he helps you to understand the meaning behind them. This book dedicated to the great bard will help us understand not just ourselves, but the cosmology of the Druids as well as the meanings that helped people to remember their heritage and beliefs. Truly an outstanding book, it might be a bit difficult for the beginner, but I highly recommend taking the time to give it a read through. You might find something to help you on your own path of enlightment.
