If You Want to be a Witch is a primer for people who are searching for information regarding Wicca, Witchcraft and general Paganism. From the beginning chapter of "So, You Think You Wanna Be a Witch?" to the end, "Taking Your First Steps Into Witchcraft", Edain deftly engages the reader to be proactive. You don't just read this book, you experience it. She corrects many misconceptions people have about witches, magick, as well as the Burning Times. For someone who's interested in the craft of Wicca or basics of Paganism, this book is definitely a keeper.
I've been a Pagan for many years, more than I can count, but I found myself enjoying this book and wishing it had been around when I took my first steps on my path. I enjoy Edain McCoy's books for their style and flair, but this book simply sat me back on my heels and left me gasping, "Wow." If you're new, old, or perhaps have a family member who is Pagan, this book is a must. Everyone will find something that deepens their appreciation for not only being a Pagan, but also on the steps taken to truly be one with your way of life. I can already tell I'll be buying copies of this book as gifts for family, friends, and other Pagans. Truly a book that's been way overdue, I highly recommend it to the many groves, covens, and more as a beginning book for all who seek to walk the path of Paganism.
