Cheyenne McCray introduces us to the Bondage Kings of Wonderland with the first story in this series, King of Hearts.
Alice O'Brien is having a bad day. She's snagged her last pair of queen-size pantyhose; she was sexually harassed at her job, then fired, now she's been splattered with pigeon poop. Could it get any worse? Um, yeah. After her terrible morning, Alice returns home to find her fiancé in bed with another woman...and another guy. He's living her fantasy -without her! She takes off in a rage, walks for hours and ends up in a park. Strangely enough, she begins fantasizing about her big, dark, sexy man - one who will dominate her.
Jarronn, King of Hearts, is in a rage. He is with his sorceress, because he has to pick a card. A card that will determine the fate of his kingdom. The sorceress Kalina is using the four cards to tell the destiny of all four kingdoms in Tarok. There is a curse that is on his people, and as the eldest brother of four, and High King of the four kingdoms, Jarronn has to select first. By choosing a card, he will be selecting a new queen. Will this queen help to bring an end to the infertility of the women in the kingdom?
Jarronn doesn't want to do this. He doesn't want an unknown mate from one of the many other worlds, but the choice is no longer his. His people are dying, and he has to play his role to change that. Why is this happening? Who is responsible for the infertility among his people?
When the ground begins to go from underneath Alice's feet, she is certain she's hallucinating. What is she to think when she wakes up and realizes her intense fantasy seems to be replaying itself? When Jarronn sees the beautiful woman before him for the first time, his protective instincts rise, among other things. He looks forward to the training he'll provide this voluptuous woman in order to make her his High Queen.
Ms. McCray never ceases to amaze me. Wonderland: King of Hearts is the beginning of yet another wonderful series. It was stunning to read of Jarronn's training Alice. He has many rules, but his feelings of love for her were so strong, even from the very beginning. He administers those rules, yet displays an incredible sensitivity towards her at all times. He has an important lesson that he must teach Alice. This lesson was the most enjoyable to me. Alice has had many a fantasy over the last several years. When she finds her life completely changed, she finds that there could be no better lover than her Jarronn. Will she submit to his many rules? Will she become the Queen of Hearts?
If King of Hearts is any indication, this series will be a complete success. Jarronn and his three brothers, twin Darronn, as well as Ty and Karn, are all sexually compelling Masters. It will be an exciting next few months anticipating the rest of this series. As is the norm with Ms. McCray's books, I have just added another book to my keeper shelf.

First there was a cattle rustling ring, which was discovered to be a cover for a drug smuggling operation. It was determined in Wildcat - also by Cheyenne McCray - that Ryan Forrester was guilty, but now he has disappeared. Now Forrester is also wanted for attempted murder. Jess Lawless, DEA Special Agent, intends to be the man to catch Forrester. If that is not bad enough, the drug smuggling is still going on. As Jess is working undercover as a ranch foreman for the Flying M, he is getting closer to breaking the case.
Tracilynn MacLeod has a life plan - good job, nice home, stable family and more. Trace is making good on her plan by living and working in London. She arrives back at the Flying M to spend a couple of weeks with her sister Dee. Running into and practically drooling over a hot cowboy like Jess Lawman is a Wildcard that she can't afford to play. For one thing, her long-term relationship with her boyfriend in London, Harold, is about to change. Harold has said he will be arriving at Christmas to ask her to marry him. What happens when Trace's feelings and desires become confused?
Ms. McCray has done it again. Every time I think I have found the perfect hero, she writes one even better. This time it is Jess Lawless, a "six-foot hunk of sex in boots." I just could not word that any better. Jess has an amazing power over Trace. Even more, his control is astonishing, in that he gives Trace all the time she needs to make up her mind. All the while, however, he gives her tantalizing glimpses of what it would be like if they were to ever be together. Trace is strong and confident on the outside, but does a good job of shielding her vulnerability. Her plans for her future seemed intact until she met Jess. It was quite humorous to read of Trace's reaction to Jess. These two are like interlocking pieces to a puzzle that fit together perfectly.
There is never a single doubt in my mind when I pick up one of Ms. McCray's titles, that I have got another good book in my hands. Every title in this Wild series gets better and better. Wildcard has a bit of everything in it - moresexmoresexmoresex, humor and suspense. I now have to wait a few more months to grab the next in this series - Wild Borders, scheduled for the end of this year.
