Border Patrol Agent Rick McAllister's mind is mostly on finding out who is responsible for bringing in so many illegal aliens through the border. In the meantime, he's very nicely distracted by a beautiful reporter, Lani Stanton, who is staying in his home in Arizona. Lani's staying with Rick, his mother, his stepfather and his son, all part of a three-week assignment about illegal immigrants.

When Lani first saw the sexy cowboy while having lunch back with her friends in San Francisco, little did she know the one man who might make her forget about her jerk of an ex-husband is a resident of the home she's staying in during an extended assignment. However, Lani sees far into his heart and soul, never mind his luscious body and decides she'd rather not get involved with him.

Libido wins out and Lani and Rick fall into a heated and sexually-satisfying affair. Will their hearts become involved? Lani has to consider her past, as well as her future. Lani's had a tough time during her previous marriage, and she's not quite certain a relationship, no matter how long the duration, would be a good idea. And Rick must be considerate, as he has a young son, so frivolous relationships are not something he can afford to engage in.

Wild Borders was a captivating book. One thing I love about Lani is her ability to bounce back. Her ex, James, hated pink and told her she was fat. As a size 14, her self-image definitely needed some work. But, when Lani headed to Arizona, one thing she did was to pack a lot of pink and to wear it frequently. Rick loves pink - especially on Lani. I thought this was an excellent method of Lani coming into her own. Her fighting her way out of the mess her mind was left in after years of emotional abuse by her husband made me proud. Rick has excellent qualities as well. He is an amazing man - as an agent, as a father, and as a lover. Whatever he does, he puts his all in - including when he decides to make Lani his own. I also enjoyed the energetic Trevor, Rick's son. He was a delightful addition to the effective cast of characters in Wild Borders.

When I started Cheyenne McCray's Wild series, each book, each couple, got better and better. But, as much as the romances are sexy and titillating, there's been a continuing thread of suspense and intrigue in each of these books. This story here has a deep story about illegal aliens, and how they affect the lives and livelihood of the ranchers and their families. If you've read the previous three books, Wildfire, Wildcat and Wildcard, you'd see the progression of the criminal activities and the intrigue of solving the problems. However, even if you haven't read any of the other Wild books, Wild Borders stands alone.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the Wild series, and especially Wild Borders. Ms. McCray's writing style will keep me coming back for more. I was thrilled for the peek into Wild Hearts at the end of this story.

Fans of Cheyenne McCray are sure to be delighted with this third story of the Bondage Kings.

Karn, the Ruler of the King of Diamonds, seems as agitated as the storm outside. There are two cards lying face down and he is to select one of them, thereby choosing his mate, the future Queen of Diamonds. Karn realizes he has no choice, as two of his brothers have already found their mates, their Queens, and love. Karn decides right then and there, due to his sad past of his evil's sister's insanity, and the loss of a woman he once loved, that his heart would remain locked forever.

College Professor Annie Travis is dealing with painful memories. Working on a painting helps Annie deal with some of the stress and sadness in her life. She looks at this new canvas she selected and has no idea what she'll paint. She pauses and thinks back to the disappearances of her twin cousins, Alice and Alexi. Two years ago, Alice disappeared, and a year ago - to the date, Alexi disappeared. Some time ago, while placing her cousins' belonging in storage, Annie found a parchment note left by Alexi. This note, and Annie's deep feelings, tells her that both her cousins are alive and well. But where are they?

Annie's Aunt Awai drops in sometime after Annie finishes her painting. As they have dinner together, Awai tells Annie some shocking things about her life. Things that make Annie, a virgin, rather curious. After dinner, Awai sees Annie's latest painting. Annie has no idea why she painted such a dismal picture - a gloomy mansion with a shadow of a man.

After Awai leaves, Annie cannot help but stare at the portrait. Things begin to happen - inside the picture. Annie feels compelled to respond to the man in the picture. Next thing, Annie is pulled into the picture, and is suddenly in Tarok. When the man in the picture makes the statement "The path will soon close.", Annie knows this man is somehow connected to Alice and Alexi. Thus starts the beginning of a new life for Annie and the King of Diamonds, Karn.

Wonderland: King of Diamonds is filled with emotional and sexual tension. Both Annie and Karn experience an amazing array of emotions while they are together. Karn's dominance is something that thrills Annie, yet makes her nervous. Annie's response to Karn's controlling ways thrills Karn beyond belief, even loosening the bonds around his heart.

Joy - a fitting word to describe my feelings while reading this fantastic book. As I enjoyed the previous two books in this series, I was very much looking forward to this installment. What happens between Karn and Annie is so wonderful that this book definitely deserves a re-read and soon. Ms. McCray has a way to draw the reader into this book, much like Annie pours her soul into a painting - from the moment Karn realizes he loves Annie, to watching Annie paint a stunning portrait of Karn, when Annie sees Alice and Alexi for the first time, and her wedding day. Each experience is told with a stunning realism. Karn proves to Annie that diamonds can truly be a girl's best friend.

One more Bondage King to go - Ty and Awai in King of Clubs. If you haven't had a chance to read any of this series, be sure to go to Ms. McCray's website at www.cheyennemccray.com. You'll be able to read great excerpts of this story and also that of Kings Jarronn and Darronn.
