Best-selling ebook author Cheyenne McCray makes her major print debut with an unforgettable tale of magic, danger and unforgettable love.
Forbidden Magic is aptly named as most of the book deals with heroine Silver Ashcroft's use of gray magic, something her coven is strongly against. Descended from the druids, the D'Anu covens all practice white magic, never venturing over to gray. They sincerely believed in only using magic that did not disturb the natural order. Silver believed if it was for the greater good or necessary to protect the natural order, then it should be used.
Using her abilities, she is able to help the Paranormal Special Force team capture Balorite warlocks and others who used ritual magic for their own benefits. On most occasions, she uses gray magic and each time it becomes harder to stop when the perpetrator is under her control. Once you start using gray magic, it only takes a bit before you slip over into using black magic.
While on one such mission, she is aided by a being even she did not expect. A Tuatha D'Danann warrior. One of the ancient beings who dwell in the Otherworld. Hawk tells Silver the Fomorii, an ancient evil banished by the Guardians and ancient gods are somehow entering the human world. The D'Danann will come to help destroy the Fomorii, but only if they are summoned. But when Silver tells her Coven of this, they refuse to summon the warriors. To summon them would be using gray magic, and that is forbidden.
Knowing it to be the only way to keep her city and her world from being overrun by the ancient demons, Silver sends out a summons. At first, only Hawk returns, but he promises more will come soon. But will it be in time? For not only have Fomorii managed to capture most of her Coven, they also taken over influential people. Silver is doing her best to stop them, but the seductive power of the Balorite warlock, Darkwolf, calls to her and each time, she loses more ground to the black magic. She must also deal with her feeling for the impressive D'Danann warrior, Hawk. With him, she is complete and safe. But will their love and the few D'Danann warriors be enough to stop an evil that has grown more deadly since the D'Danann last faced them, hundreds of years ago?
Absolutely outstanding! Cheyenne McCray never ceases to amaze me with her books and Forbidden Magic is no exception. Eroticism, magic, danger, love and heroism combine to create a tale that will you leave breathless. I spent the entire night reading this book, unable to put it down. I had to know what would happen to Silver and Hawk; had to know if Silver would be able to resist Darkwolf's powers; to know if she would find her sister. Of course, not all of my questions were answered, but I expected that as Cheyenne does a fantastic job in creating series. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer before a sequel to Forbidden Magic is released. Until then, I'll spend my time rereading this book and wondering how best to bribe Cheyenne into giving me a D'Danann warrior of my own. *ggg*
Forbidden Magic is the most amazing book I've read this year!

Sheila Lane and Nick Tarantino worked together for three years before he handed over the reins of his company to another. She felt devastated as she knew she was at least half in love with him. Talking to her best friend on it all, being told that he'd never be interested in a woman like her by the Vice President, Kate Baron, Sheila tries to gather herself together before the end of the day. When she got back to her desk, there was an embossed envelope there with her name on it. It only said one word: Tonight.
She gets home and find out from her best friend for 16 years, Greg, that a package had come for her right before she came home. The note included said, "7:00 p.m." The contents were a beautiful dress and other accruements. All were the perfect size for her.
When the time comes, she's ready. The man at the limo blindfolds her, according to his instructions as Greg speaks to the man in the limo. Assured that the man, Nick Tarantino, doesn't plan on hurting her, Greg tells Sheila to have a good time. As she's put in the limo, she has her hands tied and hears Nick whisper that tonight was payback for all the intentional and unintentional teasing he's endured from her over the past three years. It's nothing like Sheila's expected and more. His goal is simple, to declare publicly and privately Miss Sheila Lane is his.
I wanted to bang my head over this story. Okay, so I did, many times. This story is erotic, well written, and something that many women have dreamed of for ages. Not just because it's an employer/employee thing, but that a man that's been fantasized and wanted for a long time also returns that desire and has fallen for you as well. Ms. McCray has truly created an erotic story with a fulfilling conclusion and brings the true nature of romance back to its fantasy roots as well as allowing our sensual nature to shine through. I love Ms. McCray's books and highly recommend Erotic Invitation to anyone who wants to read about an erotic dream come true.
