When love comes our way, will we know? Will we be able to recognize it through the twists and turns of fate? But, what happens when love has already entered our lives and has been abruptly taken away? Will the person left behind be given another chance at happiness?
After having been married for twelve years, Viola suddenly finds herself alone. The love of her life, Charles, has passed away and her grief has taken her into a deep depression. The once happy couple had shared joint ownership of an importing business which brought them even closer together. The person Viola found herself leaning on once again was her stepsister, Kate.
Kate, the younger sibling had always taken care of Viola, even in their younger years. Viola seemed fragile, maybe it was because she was so soft spoken and such a petite woman. Kate, on the other hand, was tall and quite outspoken. From the time they were thrust together, their closeness was quite evident; and it remained so all through their lives. It’s through Kate’s love and her caring ways that Viola begins to heal and is better able to cope with her daily struggle.
As if by magic, an invitation is extended to Viola, requesting her to come and spend the Christmas holiday with Bart and Liam, the brothers of her dearly departed husband. Not wanting to go by herself, she cajoles Kate into going with her. The vacation will do them both a world of good, although Kate is not thrilled at the prospect of staying in the same home with Liam, the youngest of the brothers. Their only meeting, which was quite sour, happened when Viola married Charles. For some reason, Kate got the impression that Liam thought of her as nothing more than a silly child, but she had been quite taken with his good looks.
Upon seeing Liam again, Kate is quickly drawn to this mature businessman. There is something about him - something that takes her breath away and causes a million fireworks to explode each time she is near him or even thinks about him. This is the very same thing that happens to Liam, too. But, they both keep their emotions keenly guarded for fear of being hurt and cast aside. Too many times, love has been unkind and has caused them both to question what they really want in life.
While Kate and Liam are dealing with their insecurities, Viola and her brother-in-law, Bart, develop an instant attraction to each other. The one person who doesn’t approve of this match is the very same person who almost puts an end to their coupling.
Look into Your Heart is a wonderfully written love story. This romantic situation takes place in Australia and the flavor of the dialogue is most captivating. With each new sentence being spoken by the characters, I found myself caught in an enchanting whirlwind of hearing their charming voices. It was an endearing quality which I enjoyed so much. Tricia McGill has the precise recipe for romance and intrigue all within the pages of this expertly written novel.
