What does the name Jesus mean to you? Do you see Him as Savior, healer, friend or teacher? The character traits of Jesus are explored through this wonderful study of the various ways Scripture identifies Him. Readers will better understand this Person who truly has a "name above all names".
Robert J. Morgan has performed an outstanding service in compiling this information into this very readable format. The book is divided into fifteen sections, with each part dealing with a specific type of name. There are the royal names, priestly names, authoritative names, as well as the titles given by Peter, John and Paul in their writings. The meaning of each name is defined from the Scriptural context and includes an explanation of how it relates to us today.
Readers needn't worry that the book bogs down with deep theological insights. The author deals with each title in a short, yet thorough manner. His writing style is comfortably informative. Accompanying each name and its description is a portion of a hymn or a selection of poetry. These beautiful words add a level of praise and majesty to the text.
Reading this book will provide everyone with a deeper appreciation of Jesus. This list of names with their meanings allows the Person of Christ to be seen from a variety of angles. This concept is like a prism, which reflects light through all its facets. In a similar way, these pages marvelously show forth the many characteristics of Jesus through His various titles.
He Shall Be Called is a book that readers can hear with their hearts!
