Dizzy, a Pacific white-sided dolphin, is an incredibly fast and busy fellow. Always on the go, he never slows down to see the sights. One particular day he joins his friends in time to see a sea lion leaving their little cove. When he learns his speeding has cost him fresh fish, he rushes about attempting to find the fish shepherd and finally stops his frantic pace out of sheer exhaustion. As he catches his breath, Dizzy observes things he'd never noticed before.
Will this speedy fellow learn that sometimes it is okay to slow down and enjoy the sights?
Nyikos' third book is a delight. Dizzy is adorable and children can't help being captivated by him. His energy is definitely reminiscent of young children. Kary Lee's gorgeous illustrations capture the beauty of marine life and Dizzy's exuberance. My children love this book.
With its gentle reminder to slow down and enjoy life, Dizzy will bring a smile to both young and old.

In this delightful tale, Stacy Nyikos addresses the topic of shyness, something most children experience at some point in their lives.
Shelby suffers from intense shyness, afraid of swimming around other fish. This wouldn't be quite so amazing, except she's a lemon shark. She's bigger than most of the fish and yet is scared. Everyday she watches the fish play and longs to join them. When a mysterious objects sinks to the ocean floor, will she leave the shadows to warn everyone how dangerous the object is?
Children will be drawn Shelby; her insecurity is one they understand. Sisneros' illustrations capture the wonder and enchantment of the sea, adding depth to Nyikos' gentle rhymes.
A family favorite, Shelby is remarkable.
