The HCSB Light Speed Bible is both conscious of time and concerned about truth! The publisher and editor of this specialty Bible deserve to be commended for their sincere desire to encourage more people to read the most-owned book in the world.
Is it really possible to read the Bible in 24 hours? The honest answer to that is, "Yes". Editor William Proctor has devised a system of reading that maximizes speed and retention. He has combined study techniques with principles from the fields of mind and body relaxation and physiology. Everything is clearly and simply explained in the introduction. Anyone with at least a seventh-grade reading ability can use this program with ease. The actual format of this Bible is arranged in such a way that the eyes of the reader will instantly connect with the underlined passages and subtitles. This results in increased speed, while highlighting key facts.
There are three reading speeds in this system, with each one progressing from familiarity of the text to a more solid understanding. There is an additional fourth level, called Meditative, where extra time may be spent on in-depth study or reflection.
Although the emphasis of this Bible is on speed of reading, there is also a commitment to the authenticity of Scripture as God's Word. This particular translation has come about through solid research, yet was composed with clarity as a priority.
William Proctor has done an excellent service by combining the mechanics of reading with the message of the Bible. In only a 24-hour time period, everyone can begin to benefit from the timeless truths of God's Word!
