The story of Halloween has many flavours and meanings. Silver Ravenwolf has done a terrific job in pulling together the various roots of Samhain/All Hallow's Eve and made it interesting and engaging for young and old alike. She manages to not get argumentative or angered at many misconceptions that have cropped through the years, such as Halloween being a holiday for the Devil (which it's not. It's the Celtic New Year, and time to honour our ancestors, which was way before Christianity was conceived.)
This book has many spells that were used traditionally during this holiday along with recipes, rituals, and myths that can be remembered during this time before Winter. Some of the goodies, myths, and divination ideas in there were ones I remember doing in my youth but had fallen from the wayside. I can't wait to incorporate them into this year's celebration. The spells are ones that are easily understood and Silver Ravenwolf does a great job in explaining the basics to those who might be new to Wicca or any Pagan path.
A great introductory book to Halloween and its meaning, this book is one to use for those new to the path or who would like an enjoyable read and once again, relive some of the fun of Halloween.
