What starts out as a simple story about a tree outside of town grows into a tale of epic proportions as blue jays, squirrels, a circus clown and other creatures (including a whopping big bee) all climb onto the tree's branches. As you turn the page, yet another creature (or two) has taken refuge within the branches and one wonders if the tree will remain standing.
While not one of my personal favorites, my children adore this book. Often squabbling over who gets to read it next, Tree Ring Circus is definitely one of their favorites. I can't complain too much as the book offers plenty of counting practice and it keeps my children thoroughly entertained. Hilarious and full of laughs, Tree Ring Circus shouldn't be missed.
