Bud Morrison was tough man that people would be a fool to mess with. Coming from a rotten childhood and working as a homicide detective made Bud a very jaded man who didn't believe in a happily-ever-after for himself. He had seen the worst this world has to offer and was determined to try to clean up some of the scum that walked his corner of the Earth to make it a better and safer place for those around him.
Sitting in an old warehouse converted into a bar, Bud waited for a informant to meet with him. This bar's clientele was some of the seediest, roughest people you could encounter. Why was it then this "princess" was sitting at a table with a woman known to take drugs? This woman intrigued him, worried him and brought forth his protective instincts. When the Princess' friend disappeared and left her to her own devices in this seedy bar, Bud couldn't help but come to her rescue and offer a ride home. As soon as Bud was in the car with her he knew he was somehow in over his head. When they reached her house Bud knew he should not accept her invitation to come in for coffee, because they both knew that coffee was not what they both really wanted. He was from the wrong side of the tracks; she was from the good side. Could they just have a wild weekend of sex and then go on with their lives?
Claire fought with death most of her young adult life and finally came out the victor. Now she wanted to experience life as she never could before. Escaping the suffocating confines at her father's house, she got a place of her own where she could be wild and free. Free to live. When the big and sexy man rescued her from the creeps at the bar, Claire's internal instincts told her that she was safe with him.
One wild and free weekend brought Claire and Bud together. Neither one wanted or expected anything lasting to come from this wild, short-lived relationship. But sometimes feelings and emotions have a mind of their own. Suddenly Claire's life and those of her friends are in danger. Will Bud be able to protect the life of the woman he unexpectedly came to love? Will Claire resent Bud's strong and overpowering ways? Even if it's for her own safety?
Midnight Run by Lisa Marie Rice is a fast paced, romantic suspense that takes you on a roller coaster ride that you don't want to get off of. Ms. Rice has a way of pulling her readers in from the start and holding them captivated and intrigued until the very end, anxiously turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next. Her characters are complex, down-to-earth, strong and very likeable. The sex scenes are wild and hot. What more could you ask for? For a terrific erotic romantic suspense, read Midnight Run by talented author Lisa Marie Rice. I also recommend the first book in this series Midnight Man. They are stand alones but both are great stories that should not be missed.

Working at the Amman Embassy in Jordan, just a year before, is when Nicole Caron spent one short week with Alessandro della Torre, but that week is one she'll never forget. Sensual pleasures unlike she'd ever dreamed is what she experienced with him. She also fell in love. It is now Christmas in Naples, Italy, and Nicole is seeing the beauty of the Bay of Naples.
Nicole's career began rather quickly in the diplomatic corps and she's traveled the world. After suffering a grueling period of grief and sorrow, and watching the time tick by, she is now working in Naples and wonders if she is finally healing after Alessandro disappeared from her life. When he approaches her on Christmas Eve, with a gift of a Christmas angel, her heart nearly stops. Nicole is not the only one who fell in love that week. So, why did Alessandro leave her, and why has he approached her now?
What an affecting story! I was so touched, so involved, when I read of why Alessandro disappeared. The love between him and Nicole is palpable, making A Christmas Angel a very enjoyable read.
As this is the last of Ellora's Cave's The Twelve Quickies of Christmas, I must admit to feeling a bit of sadness. However, I'm very pleased to have read such an emotional and sensual story to conclude this special treat by twelve wonderful Ellora's Cave authors.
